Texas Water 2015! Stop by and see us, booth #317.
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Jeff Morris – Vice President of M.E. Simpson Company, Inc. Jeff was diagnosed with cancer on 1/15/15. On 1/23/15 he began very aggressive radiation and chemo treatment to fight tumors in or around his esophagus, lungs, neck & back. Jeff fought back like the true warrior that he is but sadly lost his battle with cancer on 4-11-15.
Jeff joined AWWA in 1999 shortly after opening M.E. Simpson’s Indianapolis office. Jeff was actively involved with the Indiana Section AWWA (INAWWA), serving as a Central District officer and he was elected last fall to the position of Trustee. He served as the Indiana Section’s Competition Committee Chair for many years having participated as a competitor in the very first meter madness competition. Jeff served as AWWA’s Meter Madness Committee Chair these past three years and served as a judge for several years prior. Jeff was also very active with the Indiana Rural Water Association (IRWA) where he served as Chair of Associate Member Events & Exhibits Committee.
Jeff was recognized for his dedication to the water industry and his volunteerism to the associations which promoted it. He was the recipient of the Indiana Section’s Water Wheel Award in 2007, the joint INAWWA & IRWA award: the Hoosier Water Award in 2012, and was inducted as a member of The AWWA Hoosier Crew in 2013.
Jeff will be greatly missed by his family, friends, associates, clients, and all of M. E. Simpson Company. Jeff made his arrangements and left some special requests as you will see below.
The Visitation and Funeral will both be held at Hazelwood Christian Church in Clayton, IN. For the visitation and funeral Jeff requested that everyone wears jeans. He said that he never was a formal man, and wants everyone to be comfortable during this event. He wants a party.

Jeff has requested that in lieu of flowers people make donations to the Water Buffalo’s Ride With Purpose Association. (see link below)
Jeff was an avid motorcycle rider and lover of curvy roads; he truly enjoyed and loved the Water Buffalos. He said that the friendship, comradery, and brotherhood was astonishing and was looking forward to the 2015 ride to Anaheim, CA. Jeff has requested that in lieu of flowers people make donations to Ride With Purpose Association so they can continue their mission to change the world. Each year, a rag tag group of water and wastewater professionals get together and raise money while riding their motorcycles to the AWWA’s national conference "ACE” and WEFTEC. Over the past 9 years the Water Buffalos have raised over $600,000. The funds raised by this group go to Water For People to support their project in developing countries for safe water and sanitation solutions. Water for People has a unique approach in their efforts, each project must supply the entire community, each project must have significant involvement from the community being served and they must develop a method to collect their own funds to maintain these new systems. There are many great causes in this world, I hope this one touches your heart and you consider making a donation.
Thanks to the Illinois Section of the American Water Works Association for providing their secure donation service and web links for Ride With Purpose.
