In commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr, the Porter County Recorder's Office will be closed on this Federal Holiday.
We will reopen tomorrow at 8:30am.
Today our office had the pleasure of having Judge Mary DeBoer swear in the entire office staff as deputies. The Porter County Recorder's Office staff are all impeccable public servants and greatly appreciated by the community we serve.
The Deputy Recorders strive to provide responsive, efficient, and cost-effective service to customers while maintaining the highest degree of respect, fairness, public trust and integrity. Such service is balanced to reflect compliance with statutory requirements and the needs of our customers.
Thank you Judge DeBoer for taking time out of your day to provide this service and congratulations to the entire staff.
We are happy to announce that we are rapidly approaching 650 registered veterans for our Honor Rewards program!
Haven't heard about our Honor Rewards veterans program? Our office launched this community-based service for local veterans a few years ago. Honor Rewards allows our local businesses to offer discounts and incentives to veterans in appreciation for their service.

Vote absentee or by mail, Porter County election officials urge
Election officials are encouraging voters to request absentee ballots and vote by mail instead of going to early voting sites as the novel coronavirus pandemic affects everyday life.
Although we will not be allowed to have walk in traffic (after 12:00 PM), we will still be open for business tomorrow. Most of your normal business can be done electronically on our website. We apologize for the inconvenience but we greatly value everyone’s health.
Ahh, somebody 'been in the paczki's already!
Happy Fat Tuesday to all from the Porter County Recorder's Office!

Alert
The Porter County Recorder's Office in partnership with Fidlar Software is offering Property Fraud Alert, an automated database that monitors activity involving land records filed in the office. It is a FREE service.
Preventing mortgage fraud and identity theft is a top priority at the Porter County Recorders Office. The Recorder’s office has made a conscious effort to be on the look out for documents that may involve deed or mortgage related fraud. For your protection, consider subscribing to our "FREE" Property Fraud Alert website for real-time monitoring and notification of any potential fraudulent activity of interest to you. Your security does matter!!!!
BE INFORMED! - BE PROTECTED!!
Unfortunately, it's all too easy for a criminal to record a fraudulent deed making it appear as if they now own your home.
Once they've done this, they can use your name as collateral on a mortgage or even attempt to sell your home to an unsuspecting buyer.
Don't let this happen to you!
To sign up for this free service, go to: https://pfa.fidlar.com/INPorter and check the box that states "I agree to the terms stated above" to begin registration. The service will notify you if a document is recorded with your name and you will be given the option to be notified by "Email" or by "Phone". If you have any questions regarding this or are having trouble signing up, please call 1-219-465-3465 for assistance.

We'll be here from now through 1pm today recording DD214's and registering veterans for our Honor Rewards community discount card!
We celebrated a birthday today in the Recorder's Office. Happy Birthday Jon!
Since we have just celebrated our Independence, I wanted to take a moment to remind Veterans to sign up for our Honor Rewards program to receive discounts from participating businesses. Also, if any business would like to sign up to offer veterans discounts the process is incredibly easy. We have included a kiosk exclusively for the Honors Reward program in front of the Recorder’s office or you can sign up online. It only takes 2 minutes. We are looking to expand benefits into local restaurants that want to attract Veterans.
In observance of the Fourth of July holiday, the Porter County Recorder's Office will be closed July 4th.

Porter County Auditor
It's July 1, and that means that a variety of new laws take effect in Indiana. One of these was prompted by H.E.A. 1427. Beginning today, the fee charged by county auditors for real estate conveyances, also known as deed transfer fees, will increase to $10. The money goes into a fund that pays for maintaining plat books.
Well, we celebrated a birthday in the Porter County Recorder's Office this past Friday! Happiest of birthdays to you Kathy!
In observance of the Memorial Day Holiday, the Porter County Recorder's Office will be closed on Monday, May 27th. Any electronic documents submitted to us on the holiday will be processed on Tuesday, May 28th.
