Discovery Day Camps are located at Rogers-Lakewood Park.
Discovery Camps of the Valpo Parks Department offer 3 levels of fun for kids 3 years old up to eighth grade! Home base for Discovery Camps is the scenic 122-acre Rogers-Lakewood Park, a perfect setting for the combination of outdoor activities, learning, and fun. And, it’s affordable: the weekly fees break down to less than $3 an hour on average. This is no ordinary “day camp” – this is your local summer camp done right. The goal of Discovery Cottage is just that – discovery by each child of sights, activities and social interaction they may not have experienced. New discoveries can spark new interests and new friendships. Plus, the camp is outside where kids stay more active as they can run, jump, imagine, pretend, and just be a kid, all in a securely guided environment. Valpo Parks Youth Programs Director Phil Blasko and his Discovery Camp Lead Staff have made a concerted effort to have great ideas, themes and activities to excite the campers each week. Your kids will want to come to camp to see what’s next to be discovered. As well, the camp staff is well-qualified – all counselors have at least one year of college behind them, and most have higher education majors or other jobs that involve youth development or teaching. Safety is a key factor for Discovery Camps so background checks are completed on all staff members. We have experienced and certified staff to guide kids through the best summer yet, while remaining safe in this local Valpo setting. Valpo Parks also offers Ranger Camp which is specially suited to interest 7th and 8th graders. Asany parent knows, Tweens can get bored pretty quickly, but not at Discovery Rangers Camp. These young men and women will get a chance to act, build, garden, cook, and explore through many several hands-on experiences. Boredom is not an option here – let your Tween discover it for him/herself. Sign up for Discovery Camps from June 10 through August 16. Let your kids enjoy the active and exciting days at Rogers-Lakewood week by week, or sign them up for the whole summer. Prices range from $45 per week for a half day of Adventure Camp to $87 for weekly camp held daily from 9 AM to 3 PM. Before and After Camp Care is available

Valpo Parks is excited to announce the safe return of Discovery Day Camps! After extensive review of the CDC guidelines, we will be offering summer camp at Rogers Lakewood Park with modifications to ensure the health and well-being of our campers and staffers. Camp will run from July 6th to August 6th for children ages 5-14. Unfortunately the 3-4 year old age group will not be offered this summer due to safety concerns. Once again, campers can look forward to fun activities such as inflatables, games, songs, team sports, arts & crafts, nature hikes, slip ‘n slide, water games and more!
Be sure to register soon as our age groups will be limited to stay within CDC guidelines. https://bit.ly/DiscoveryDayCamp
