I greatly appreciate the Rotary Club of Valparaiso for holding their latest meeting here in our Portage Library Garden this afternoon, and thankful for the team at our Portage Library Branch of our Porter County Library system for hosting such a wonderful event here today.
It was an honor to speak with attendees on a range of important topics, including our city's recovery process after this month's derecho, our efforts to build up our downtown through various kinds of events and city programs, upcoming infrastructure projects, and the importance of our public libraries in the movement to preserve and continue building our local communities.
Talking with the Rotarians, I learned that they came from all corners of Porter County, and it was very cool to meet many with existing connections to our city, as well as others who are increasingly interested in our city as a place to come explore, from our parks and beaches to new places to eat and shop very soon. Not to mention come and check out our incredible library.
