Student Announcements:

The High School Student Council will be participating in the American Heart Association walk on September 26th at Coffee Creek in Chesterton. Anyone interested in walking should contact Mrs. Peres for information. Student Council member the information is on google classroom.

Attention juniors and seniors: Valparaiso University will be visiting WT on Wednesday, September 9th at 10 a.m. Please see Mrs. Wiesemann in the study hall room to sign up for this and other college visits (which are posted in your CCR Google Classroom).

A rep from the Army National Guard will be visiting during high school lunch on Wednesday.

SEPTEMBER HEAT CONTINUES TODAY

Are you ready for Fall yet? Or keep it coming? Either way we're stuck with the heat and humidity again today as temps soar into the 90s with heat indices, or what it feels like, pushing 105 for most. Gary had a heat index of 115 yesterday (!!!) and we'll likely push the envelope again today. This heat backs off slowly over the next few days but it also comes with storm chances Thursday through Saturday.

BIG CHANGES THIS MONTH

If you're not thrilled with our heat and humidity, you shouldn't have to wait too long to get some relief. While this week and even next week look to bring some heat--there are signs we get a shot of cooler air in mid-September. This makes sense as our average highs drop pretty quickly from mid-September through the end of the year after being stagnant for the last two months. Changes are coming and September is the first month we see dramatically cooler air rush in at times.

SEPTEMBER: AVERAGES AND STATS FOR THE MONTH

As we start the month of September, I always like us to know where we "should be" and where we go by the end of the month with our averages. Our average highs fall into the low 70s with lows easily in the 40s by the end of the month. We have a fairly dry month and still average 3 days at 90 or above. The thing you'll notice this month is daylight loss. We lose a LOT of daylight in September to the order of an hour and 19 minutes by month's end. Sunrises at the end of the month will be around 6:44am and sunsets will be around 6:30pm. This is certainly a month of change!
