COLD AIR RIGHT ON CUE

This cold air is right on cue climatologically as our average first freeze in the Region is right around now. Breaking it down in the Region our first freeze has typically occurred by last week in our southern counties away from the lake. The first freeze typically occurs sometime next week in our northern counties closer to the lake. we'll get another good frost tonight and some locations may drop to freezing, but I don't expect a widespread freeze tonight. Here's a look at when our first freeze has occurred at the Porter County Airport (our official record-keeping location here in NWI) over the last few years:

TEMP TREND THROUGH NEXT WEEKEND

This chilly air is but a blip in the warmer temps we've had recently as we're back to a beautiful temperature pattern for much of next week. This giant high pressure thar brought the cool air will also be responsible for a nice warm-up on the backside of it this week. Our average highs are slipping pretty fast as we've discussed over the last few weeks, but the highs this week should remain pretty consistent in the upper 60s and into the 70s. Another week to get those outdoor projects done before, well...winter...
