Our office offers a variety of programs and services that support student academic success and that enhance the college learning experience. We invite you to join and t
o participate in diverse extracurricular and co-curricular programs that offer leadership opportunities, promote multicultural education, enhance student retention, and provide venues for social action, service, and collaborative endeavors. Last night we hosted an event with Amos, who discussed Activism in Art. It was extremely informative and he donated an art piece to the OMP!
An Ofrenda is a sacred tradition celebrated during the Day of the Dead (Nov 1-Nov 2) to commemorate our loved ones who have passed away. Through the help of OMP, Access College, and the University Chapel we have created an ofrenda in the Gloria Christi Chapel that can be viewed until Nov 06. Please take a moment to stop by.

To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month throughout the month we will be highlighting different figures!!
•Dolores Huerta•
Dolores Huerta was the co-founder of the United Farm Workers Association. She was one of the most influential labor activists and a leader of the Chicano civil rights movement. Huerta helped organize workers, negotiate contracts, adn advocated for safer working conditions which included the elimination of harmful pesticides. She also fought for the healthcare and unemployment benefits for agricultural workers. One of her most notable strikes was the 1965 Delano strike of 5,000 grape workers. From the 1990s and 2000s she worked to elect more Latinos and women to political office and has championed women's issues.

For this the OMP would like to introduce you all to Daniela Trajceski, the Gandhi-King Center Program Coordinator.

Daniela’s favorite show currently is “The Bold Type” and her favorite song currently is Deja Vu by Olivia Rodrigo. In her downtime, she enjoys cooking and baking. She also enjoys nail art. A Fun Fact that you might know about Daniela is that she can speak Macedonian. She is also a Valparaiso University Alumni.

What is Daniela loves about working in the GKC is the student staff and her colleagues, she says that they really are the best! She also enjoys working with VISA and the Study Abroad students.

Who is ready for another week of FOCUS?! The OMP has loved meeting the students of the incoming class and their families so far, and cannot wait for another week ahead. Be sure to stop by our table at the Student Resource Fair where you will get the opportunity to meet some of the Professional Staff at the OMP as well as learn about the services we provide on campus!!
