☀️ Too hot to handle? Know the signs of heat illness! 🥵
With temperatures rising, it is important to know that being "too hot" isn't just uncomfortable—it can be a medical emergency. Heat-related illnesses happen on a spectrum.
Here is what you need to look out for:
🟢 MILD: Heat Rash & Cramps
* Signs: Red itchy bumps, painful muscle spasms.
* Fix: Move to the shade, rest, and drink electrolytes.
🟡 SERIOUS: Heat Exhaustion
* Signs: Heavy sweating, dizziness, headache, nausea, and weakness.
* Fix: Loosen clothes, apply cool wet cloths, and sip water.
🔴 EMERGENCY: Heat Stroke
* Signs: Confusion, slurred speech, hot/dry skin, or fainting.
* Fix: Call 911 immediately. This is a life-threatening emergency! Move them to a cool place and cool them down fast.
Stay hydrated, wear loose clothing, and check on your neighbors. 💦

Every spring and fall, farmers fill roads with tractors, combines, and other farm equipment. Some farm equipment can take up the whole road. That’s why both farmers and other drivers need to pay extra attention this time of year.

It’s legal to drive farm machinery on public roads and it’s often the only way farmers can get from field to field. The combination of slow moving farm equipment and faster cars, however, can be deadly as the time before the two vehicles meet takes only seconds. Be patient. Don’t assume the equipment operator can move aside to let you pass. The shoulder may not be able to support a heavy farm vehicle. Don’t tailgate. All it accomplishes is making the equipment driver stressed and distracted. Leave at least 50 feet between you and the farm equipment.
