♻️ Tire Recycling Day at the Van Wert County Fairgrounds!

The Van Wert Soil and Water Conservation District is hosting a Tire Recycling Day here at the Fairgrounds on Saturday, September 19th!

Tires must be pre-registered by 4:00 PM on September 11th.

The Van Wert SWCD held their 77th Annual Meeting by co-hosting with the Van Wert Farm Bureau at the Ag Banquet on Tuesday, August 4 at Life House Church, Van Wert, OH. A SWCD election was held for one supervisor position on the SWCD Board of Supervisors five-member Board. Tristin Miller was elected to serve a three-year term commencing January 1, 2027.
Dinner was provided by Lock 16 Catering. The speaker was Ty Higgins who delivered a great presentation.

Lilly Mount and Grace Linton were the SWCD Scholarship recipients. Craig Pohlman was recognized by the SWCD and received the Conservation Farmer Award. This award is given to honor individuals for their conservation achievements. Farm Bureau honored their scholarship recipients, Elyssa Renner, Maddie Gerdeman, Matthew Dealey, and Ryan Bowsher.
The Van Wert Ag Hall of Fame Award was presented to Dale Profit for his many agricultural accomplishments.

Sponsors for the evening were: Farm Bureau and the Van Wert Soil and Water Conservation District.

Annual Ag Banquet to be held on August 4

The Van Wert Ag Banquet has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 4 at Life House Church, 719 Fox Road, Van Wert. The Van Wert SWCD and Farm Bureau are co-hosting this event which replaces our separate annual meetings. The evening will begin at 5:00 p.m. with registration and election for one SWCD supervisor to the five-member Board of Supervisors.

Dinner will be catered by Lock 16 and will begin at 6:00 pm.

Both offices will present awards followed by the “Van Wert Ag Hall of Fame” award!
This year’s award is being awarded to Dale Profit.

Also, this year we are excited to have speaker Ty Higgins. Ty is a farm enthusiast who brings a wealth of knowledge. We are excited to have him!

There will be no charge for the banquet this year, however you will still need to RSVP to the SWCD office. Deadline to RSVP is July 23.
