0344 hrs. – Dispatched Convoy EMS to a residence on Payne Road in Tully Township for a subject having severe pain from a previous fall.

0547 hrs. – Deputies responded to an area of U.S. Route 30 in Pleasant Township for a report of a motor vehicle crash. Unit One a 2019 Freightliner driven by Matthew Meck of Indiana was traveling eastbound on U.S. Route 30 near Richey Road in Pleasant Township. Unit One had an equipment failure; the front passenger tire came off the semi, causing the semi to swerve to the right into a guard rail. As the vehicle swerved into the guard rail, it sustained more damage to the rear tires, causing two more to come off the axle. The semi sustained disabling damage and was unable to be driven. The driver sustained no injuries. The semi was then towed from the scene.

1215 hrs. – Deputies responded to a location on Rockford Road in the Village of Willshire for a report of a motor vehicle crash. Unit One, a 2004 GMC Sierra driven by Amy Breauchy of Monroe Indiana, was backing out of a parking space at Road Dog gas station in the Village of Willshire. Unit One failed to see oncoming traffic from the rear and struck Unit Two. Unit Two was a 2018 Jeep Cherokee driven by Susan Maier of Celina, which was traveling northbound on Fort Recovery Road. Unit One had minor damage to the rear, and Unit Two had minor damage to the passenger side of the vehicle. All occupants had no injuries reported.

On June 7, 2026, the 5th Grade D.A.R.E. essay winners from Van Wert, Lincolnview, and Crestview schools were recognized for their outstanding essays and commitment to the D.A.R.E. program. As a special reward for their achievement, the students enjoyed a plane ride around Van Wert County, giving them a unique opportunity to see their community from above and celebrate their hard work and success.

A special thank you goes to Fred Pond for generously donating his time, aircraft, and expertise to provide this unforgettable experience. His willingness to fly the students and share the excitement of aviation helped create lasting memories for these deserving young people.

The Van Wert County D.A.R.E. program is proud of these students and their accomplishments and extends its appreciation to everyone who helped make this memorable experience possible.

1135 hrs. – Deputies responded to an area of Lincoln Highway in Ridge Township for a report of a motor vehicle crash. Unit One, a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Timothy Wheeler of Pleasant Township, was westbound on Lincoln Highway. Unit Two, a 1993 Kenworth driven by Randy Strickler of Paulding County, was eastbound on Lincoln Highway just west of Chenowith Road. Unit Two was pulling a trailer when the left rear tire on the trailer came off and struck the front of Unit One. Unit One had to be towed from the scene. Unit Two was towing an 18-foot Beshle trailer used for farm equipment.

1249 hrs. – Dispatched Ohio City EMS to a residence on Mendon Road in York Township for a subject with a severe nosebleed.

1305 hrs. – Deputies responded to a residence on William Street in the City of Van Wert to assist a motorist locked out of their vehicle.

1502 hrs. – Deputies responded to an area of State Route 118 in Pleasant Township for a report of an occupied disabled vehicle.

1552 hrs. – Deputies responded to an area of Mason Street in the Village of Middle Point for a complaint of ATVs on the roadway.

1730 hrs. – Deputies responded to an area of U.S. Route 30 in Ridge Township for a report of an occupied disabled vehicle.

1752 hrs. – Deputies responded to an area of Walcott Street in the Village of Willshire for a report of a motor vehicle crash. Unit One, a 2016 Chevrolet Traverse driven by Robin Priest of Willshire Township was traveling eastbound on Walcott Street near State Street. Unit One approached a stop sign at the intersection of Walcott and State Street. Unit One had come to a complete stop at the stop sign. Unit Two, a 2023 Ram 1500 driven by Jessica Belknap of Virginia, had approached Unit One from the rear and had also come to a complete stop. Unit One had begun reversing at the intersection to allow a semi to turn. Unit One had then struck Unit Two in the process. Unit One had minor damage to the rear of the vehicle. Unit Two had minor damage to the front of the vehicle. No injuries were reported.

1756 hrs. – Dispatched Wren EMS and Van Wert EMS to a location on Rockford Road in the Village of Willshire for a subject who passed out.

1850 hrs. – Deputies responded to a residence on Lincoln Highway in Pleasant Township for a report of property damage.

1902 hrs. – Deputies responded to a residence on Adams Road in Jackson Township for a report of a mailbox being struck by farm equipment.
