Building, Creating, and Collaborating!
Our 5th and 6th graders have been putting their creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills to work in the STEM lab!
Fifth graders tackled a collaborative bridge-building challenge using K’NEX. Teams began constructing bridges before passing their projects to another group to evaluate, improve, and continue building, just like real-world engineers and construction crews! Students then reimagined their designs as smaller-scale makerspace models, with final teams creating functional bridges capable of crossing a “river.” This challenge encouraged teamwork, critical thinking, and the engineering design process.
To celebrate Dot Day, sixth graders transformed bottle caps into creative, themed images. Other teams turned selected letters into 3D STREAM concept models using a variety of makerspace materials. Students worked together to plan designs, assign roles, and bring their ideas to life. The finished posters and models showcase an exciting blend of creativity, design thinking, technical skills, and project-based learning.
From building bridges to transforming everyday materials into creative designs, our students continue to explore, experiment, collaborate, and bring their ideas to life in the STEM lab!
