A big thank you to Mr. Schmidt, Mr. Chiles & our Specials Teams for holding our annual Field Day on our last day of school! It was such a fun day! We hope all of our students have a fantastic summer! We want to thank all the volunteers and PTO parents for helping serve lunch as well!

Our fourth graders made a trip to Sauder Village! They explored what life was like in the old days, learning history through hands-on experiences and discovering how people lived, worked, and learned years ago. What a fun day of learning and making memories!

Congratulations to the Van Wert Elementary Word of the Week Winners! This week, the following students were chosen as representatives of the word, HONORABLE: Grade 1, Hayes; Grade 2, Everly ; Grade 3, Oliver; Grade 4, Emmitt; Grade 5, Jarret. Each child received a free Mighty Kids Meal from our local McDonalds and a certificate from WERT Radio. Thank you to our generous sponsors!

The 5th graders recently wrapped up their track and field unit by competing in a track and field meet! Classes competed against each other in relays, running events, and field events of javelin, shot put, and broad jump. Winners will be announced at the End of Year Awards, so stay tuned! 🐾 🥇🥈🥉👏

Thanks to Traci McCoy and crew for organizing Right to Read Week! So many fun activities and one of them was a car show! Students were able to vote on their favorites! Here are results:
• Student Favorite (tie): Mustang Statewide Ford & Jeep (Mr. Army’s)
• Most American: Dare Truck Van Wert Police Department

Thank you to the committee for all their help and teachers for their support in the extra activities we had! We appreciate all the owners for bringing in their cars too!

Due to temps and potential rain, the county elementary track meet is being moved to Sunday June 7th at 3:00 pm at the Lincolnview track complex.
