The Van Volunteer Fire Department serves an approximately 20 square mile area including but not limited to: Van, Bigson, Bull Creek, Robinson, Gordon, Bandytown, Twilight, Williams Mtn, Bobwhite, Cazy, Lindytown. We also assist Racine VFD in Prenter, Wharton-Barrett VFD on all structure fires and motor vehicle collisions, and Madison VFD on all structure fires from our area to McDonald’s. Zack Pri

If the weather turns bad, everything will be moved inside the firehouse.

Due to the forecasted snowstorm and hazardous cold temperatures, the Van Fire Department will be open tomorrow as a Warming Station for residents in need of shelter from the cold.

This service is being provided to ensure the safety and well-being of the public during this severe weather event. Residents without adequate heat, as well as those who are elderly, medically vulnerable, or otherwise at risk, are strongly encouraged to utilize this resource.

Please monitor local weather updates, limit unnecessary travel, and check on neighbors who may need assistance. Share this notice to help ensure those in need are informed.

Public safety remains our highest priority.

Our area has experienced heavy rain fall, causing some traffic alerts.

Run-Off water from the mountain has undercut the road severely. (Pictured below) As of 23:14 there is 1 lane open, but could change over time. (Will update)

📍Between Cazy and Marthatown📍
Water is completely covering the road between these areas. Making it completely impassable (pictured below) if you live past Cazy bridge you will need to find an alternative route.

DOH has been notified to place signs at said locations.

‼️Crews are surveying the area frequently and will update this post accordingly.
