The filing deadline for city, school board and soil & water conservation candidates is Tuesday, June 2nd @ 4pm. Paperwork is available online through the Secretary of State or in our office.

All courthouse phones are out this morning from an outage over the weekend, but we are here and open. A tech has been dispatched and will hopefully have them up and running soon. Thanks for your patience.

The hand-to-eye audit conducted this morning confirmed the machine tape totals matched the paper ballots inside of the scanner tub, for the Congressional 4th District race. The Lewis County Board of Elections Members were present, along with a Republican & Democrat Election Officer.
The machine and race were randomly drawn by by the Kentucky Secretary of State’s Office. This process will be completed after every Primary & General Election, in all 120 Kentucky counties.

Pursuant to KRS 117.383(8), to validate the accuracy and fidelity of the vote tabulation, the Lewis County Board of Elections will conduct a hand-to-eye audit of the votes cast in one randomly selected race from ballots tabulated by one randomly selected scanner tomorrow, on May 21, 2026.
The Secretary of State will randomly select the race and scanner.
This audit will take place @ 9am on the 3rd floor of the old courthouse. The public may observe the audit.
