Sheriff Johnny Bivens states that Deputies recovered a large amount of narcotics and a loaded firearm during traffic stop. Sgt. Mike Ginn and Deputy Scottie Prater stopped a 2020 Ford Fusion for a traffic violation on KY 59 in Vanceburg. During the investigation, Deputies observed indicators of possible drug use. Deputy Scottie Prater and K9 Knox conducted a free air sniff around the perimeter of the vehicle where the K9 alerted at the rear of the vehicle. A search was conducted and Deputies recovered 158 grams of m**hamphetamine, 41 grams of he**in and what appeared to be a large quantity of co***ne. Deputies also recovered a Smith & Wesson 9mm with two loaded magazines inside the vehicle. Arrested were 46-year-old Michael Kunick of Vine Grove, KY., 41-year-old Austin Goine of Paris, KY., and 29-year-old Amber Skaggs of Garrison, KY. Bivens states all three were charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine, He**in and Co***ne. Both Kunick and Goine were charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office arrested 3 individuals after executing a search warrant. The months long investigation resulted in the arrests of Kenneth Truesdell, Tia Ellis and Elizabeth McDonald. Truesdell was charged with Trafficking in a controlled substance 1st degree - m**h, Trafficking in ma*****na, Trafficking in a controlled substance 1st degree narcotics - schedule 1 & 2 and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Ellis was charged with possession of m**hamphetamine and possession of ma*****na and McDonald was charged with possession of ma*****na and illegal possession of a legend drug. The search warrant was executed at a residence on Browns Run Road off of Big Cabin Creek in Lewis County.

The Lewis County Sheriff's Office is currently executing a search warrant at a known drug house in the Tollesboro area. We will provide further information and arrest as soon as the scene is cleared.

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office is actively seeking the identity of the individual in these photos.

The individual is a suspect in recent thefts from motor vehicles (smash and grab). The individual is pulling up in populated areas, acting as though he is having vehicle trouble. Suspect then will break the window out of unattended vehicles looking to steal valuables, specifically fi****ms.

Anyone with information about this individual should call the Lewis County Sheriff’s office at 606-796-2912. All callers may remain anonymous.
