🚨 Scam Alert: Door-to-Door Repair Crews 🚨

VPD detectives want to warn the public about a scam where individuals are going door-to-door offering roof or chimney repairs.

These scammers often claim they were in the area and noticed damage, then get on the roof or near the chimney to point it out. In some cases, the damage is exaggerated or even caused by the suspects. They then quote a high repair cost, require a deposit, and leave before completing the work.

These individuals can appear legitimate, using business names, logos, and paperwork taken from real companies. In past cases, victims have lost between $40,000 and $100,000 and were left with incomplete work or additional damage.

Older adults and homeowners in established neighborhoods are most often targeted.

How to protect yourself:

🔹Be cautious of unsolicited repair offers
🔹Do not feel pressured to make an immediate decision
🔹 Verify the business independently using a trusted source
🔹Get multiple estimates before agreeing to work

If you believe you have been targeted or victimized, please call 311.

🚨⛓️‍💥Another suspect arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

Officers recently stopped a vehicle without license plates, and the driver made a brief attempt to leave the traffic stop before being detained. K9 Red soon alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle, which led to the car being seized for a search warrant. 🐾

When officers later searched the vehicle, they located a .40 caliber pistol with the serial number removed.

The suspect, a convicted felon who is prohibited from possessing fi****ms, was booked into the Clark County Jail for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm – First Degree.
