For those who have asked how you can support Deputy Patrick Morgan and his family, with the family's permission, we are sharing a way to help.

Deputy Morgan - just 32 years old - is a husband, father of two young children, veteran, and dedicated public servant. In 2024, he was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer. Just a few weeks ago, his family received news that the cancer has spread to the bones in his spine.

Before joining the Clark County Sheriff's Office in 2023, Patrick worked for the Ridgefield Police Department and the Clark County Jail, and proudly served our nation as an Airborne Infantry soldier. He has dedicated his life to serving others, and now our Sheriff's Office family and the community are rallying around him and his loved ones as they face this fight together.

Thank you for keeping Patrick, his wife, and their children in your thoughts as they face the road ahead. 🖤💚

Congratulations to our newest deputy, Brandon Roe, on graduating from the Basic Law Enforcement Academy! 👏🏻

Deputy Roe recently completed Class 935 at the Arlington Academy. The class motto, "Duty Driven, Honor Bound," reflects the dedication and commitment required of Washington's newest law enforcement officers.

While we typically send recruits to the Southwest Washington Regional Training Academy in Vancouver, occasional space and scheduling needs require placement at other academies around the state.

We are proud of Deputy Roe for this accomplishment and look forward to seeing him serve our community. We're also excited to welcome our next academy class when training begins in Vancouver next month! 🚔

🚲⚡E-Bikes & Electric Motorcycles Safety⚡🚨

E-bikes (electric bicycles) and electric motorcycles are not the same — and the laws for where they can be ridden are different too.

The Washington Traffic Safety Commission has a helpful guide explaining the rules for e-bikes, electric motorcycles, mopeds, motorized foot scooters, and more: https://wtsc.wa.gov/erideguide/

❓Did you know: Riders of Class 3 e-bikes must be at least 16 years old.

⚠️Electric motorcycles are considered motor vehicles and:
• Are not allowed on sidewalks or in most pedestrian areas
• Require a motorcycle endorsement, registration, and insurance
• Cannot legally be operated on public roads without meeting those requirements

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦Parents and guardians: You may be held responsible if your child operates one of these unlawfully.

The laws are in place to protect riders, pedestrians, and everyone sharing our roads and trails. Please take a few minutes to understand the rules before you ride and help keep our community safe and livable for everyone.

Clark County Peace Officers Memorial Day

Tuesday, May 19, 2026, was recognized as Clark County Peace Officers Memorial Day. A ceremony was held at the Public Service Center in downtown Vancouver to honor peace officers who have been killed or disabled in the line of duty. The ceremony was rich in heritage and tradition, including bagpipes and the ringing of the bell.

County Council Chair Sue Marshall read the county’s proclamation, and Vancouver Police Assistant Chief Nilsen and Sheriff Horch each offered brief remarks.

The ceremony served as a solemn time to remember and reflect on those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting our community.💙

🚨🔎Can You ID Me?🔍🚨

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the community’s help identifying the male and Nissan sedan in these photos. He is a suspect in a felony theft investigation.

If you recognize him or have any information about the vehicle, please contact Deputy Kennison at [email protected].

The suspect appears to be wearing a Seattle Seahawks #88 jersey. We’re fairly confident AJ Barner would not approve of this kind of behavior.
