Summer often comes with pressure to stay busy, be productive, or make the most of every moment. But this is your reminder that rest is not something you have to earn. Taking time to slow down, enjoy the people around you, spend time in nature, laugh, reflect, or simply doing nothing at all can be just as valuable as crossing items off your to-do list. This season, give yourself permission to recharge and focus on what brings you peace, joy, and balance. Sometimes the most meaningful moments happen when we allow ourselves the space to simply be present.

Connection is one of the simplest and most meaningful ways we can support the Elders in our lives. A quick phone call, a visit, an invitation to share a meal, or taking time to listen can remind someone that they are valued and cared for. Small moments of connection help strengthen relationships, reduce feelings of loneliness, and build a stronger sense of community for everyone.

During Elder Abuse Awareness Month, we encourage you to reach out to an Elder in your life. Ask about their experiences, learn from their stories, and let them know they matter. Sometimes the greatest gift we can give is our time and presence.

Our Elders are more than keepers of memories—they are living libraries filled with stories, teachings, traditions, and experiences that help guide future generations. Through their wisdom, we learn about our history, our values, and the strength of our communities. Every conversation with an Elder is an opportunity to learn something new and deepen our connection to one another.

During Elder Abuse Awareness Month, we are reminded of the importance of honoring, protecting, and listening to our Elders. When we create spaces for Elders to share their knowledge and feel valued, we help preserve culture, strengthen community bonds, and ensure their voices continue to shape the future. Take time today to sit with an elder, listen to a story, and celebrate the wisdom they carry.

Summer is a great time to try something new, explore your creativity, and make space for activities that bring you joy. Whether you're writing a poem, planting a garden, learning a new skill, creating art, or experimenting with a new recipe, every creative project starts with a single step. Taking time to create can help reduce stress, build confidence, and provide a meaningful way to express yourself. This season, challenge yourself to make, grow, build, or learn something that inspires you. What will you create this summer?

Healing often begins with connection. When Elders and younger generations spend time together, they share stories, traditions, knowledge, and life experiences that strengthen families and communities. These relationships create opportunities for learning, understanding, and support while helping reduce loneliness and isolation.

During Elder Abuse Awareness Month, we recognize the importance of building meaningful connections across generations. A conversation, shared meal, cultural activity, or simply taking time to listen can make a lasting impact. By honoring our Elders and creating spaces where every generation feels valued, we help build stronger, healthier communities rooted in respect, compassion, and care.

Elder abuse is not always easy to recognize. It can take many forms, including financial exploitation, neglect, emotional harm, isolation, physical abuse, or situations where someone takes advantage of an elder’s trust. Because the signs are often hidden, it’s important for families, caregivers, friends, and community members to stay connected and pay attention to changes in an Elder’s well-being, behavior, or living conditions.

During Elder Abuse Awareness Month, we encourage everyone to learn more about the warning signs and speak up when something doesn’t seem right. Every Elder deserves to feel safe, respected, valued, and supported. By working together, we can help protect our Elders and create communities where they can live with dignity and care.

Kindness has a way of creating ripple effects that reach far beyond a single moment. A kind word, a helping hand, or simply taking the time to check on someone can brighten a day and strengthen our community. This week, we invite you to take part in our Acts of Kindness Challenge by choosing one small action that spreads positivity and connection. Whether it's supporting a local business, volunteering your time, sharing a helpful resource, or letting someone know they are appreciated, every act of kindness matters. Together, we can build a stronger, more caring community—one small gesture at a time.
