National Library Week is also Volunteer Appreciation Week and honestly, that's not a coincidence for us. Every used bookstore shift, every program they help set up or lead, every hour spent on tasks that keep our branches running? That's our volunteers making a difference alongside our staff. FVRLibraries wouldn't be what it is without them. Thank you for showing up week after week, year after year!

Yesterday at our Woodland Branch, a young reader cozied up with Stella the therapy dog to read 'Dog Heroes' aloud.

The Kids Read to a Dog program gives young readers a relaxed, judgment-free space to practice reading out loud, with the best possible audience: a dog who thinks every page is wonderful. Imagine preparing for one of life’s biggest milestones when the ground literally shifts beneath your feet. FVRLibraries’ 2026 Community Reads book, Tilt by Emma Pattee, puts a young woman at the center of this scenario after a catastrophic earthquake hits Portland, Oregon. This year’s Community Reads offers a chance to read the same book as others in our district, an opportunity to meet the author in person, a book group discussion, and a program about earthquake safety.

**Pick up your free copy of the book starting April 1 at all FVRLibraries branch locations, while supplies last**

FVRLibraries Community Reads programming is made possible through generous support from the Fort Vancouver Regional Library Foundation, Friends of White Salmon Valley Community Library, Friends of Stevenson Community Library, and Friends of Vancouver Community Library.
