The 2026 numbers are in.

The Point-in-Time Count is a one-day snapshot of homelessness in Clark County that takes place on the last Thursday in January. This year, 1,260 people were experiencing literal homelessness on January 29, 2026.

Key findings:
• 15% decrease in people living in emergency shelters
• 11% decrease in unsheltered individuals
• 21% increase in unsheltered families

These numbers reflect both progress and ongoing challenges in addressing homelessness in our community.

Read more and explore the full report on our website under Impact: https://www.councilforthehomeless.org/by-the-numbers/point-in-time-count/.

Every number represents a neighbor, a family, and a need for continued solutions and support.

Real solutions require honest conversations, compassion, and long-term thinking.

This thoughtful letter from a Camas neighbor offers practical ideas and perspectives on addressing homelessness in a way that helps both vulnerable individuals and the broader community. Worth the read and discussion.

Many of our neighbors are just one ride away from stability.
At Council for the Homeless, we’re seeing an urgent need for bus passes, a critical resource that helps people:

• Get to housing interviews and secure stable homes
• Access medical and mental health appointments
• Show up for job interviews and work shifts

Without reliable transportation, even the most determined efforts can stall.

You can help today:

For just $1.50 for a single ride or $4.25 for a day pass, donate bus passes or make a gift to ensure our clients can get where they need to go safely and on time.

Every ride matters. Every pass helps move someone forward. Give today: https://www.councilforthehomeless.org/take-action/

Throughout the month of April, our staff have been wearing blue in support of Autism Acceptance Month.

People on the autism spectrum face unique, often invisible, barriers to finding safe and stable housing. Sensory sensitivities can make crowded shelter environments overwhelming and communication differences can lead to misunderstandings with service providers, all of which can intensify the trauma of being homeless.

Without systems designed to recognize and support neurodiversity, too many people are left without the care and stability they deserve.

We believe housing solutions must be responsive to the diverse needs of our community. Everyone deserves a place to feel safe, understood, and at home.
