Today is National Naloxone (Narcan) Awareness Day🤝

At the Clark County Jail, we’re committed to supporting the health and safety of our community—both inside and outside our facility.

Our lobby features a free SWACH naloxone vending machine, available to anyone who may need this lifesaving medication. Naloxone can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose, and increasing access helps protect individuals, families, and our broader community.

We encourage everyone to learn about naloxone, how it works, and how easy it is to use. Together, we can save lives and reduce the harm caused by opioid overdoses.

If you or someone you know could benefit from naloxone, please stop by our lobby to access a kit at no cost.

Reentry Success Story✨

Alissa Wilson shares her journey from incarceration to becoming a Lead 4D Recovery Coach—returning to Clark County Jail not as an inmate, but as a professional visitor using her lived experience to support others. Her story is a reminder that respect matters, reentry is complex, and many positive outcomes often go unseen.🌟🤝

Today, we pause to remember the brave service members who made the ultimate sacrifice and never made it home. Their courage was not in vain — it protected the freedoms we’re fortunate to enjoy every day.

We honor their memory by carrying gratitude with us, recognizing that freedom comes with a cost, and committing ourselves to protect the values they stood for.

Please take a moment at 3:00 PM local time to join in the National Moment of Remembrance and observe a minute of silence in their honor.

Let us never forget.

Steps Toward Success 🪜🌟

The Jail Transition Program recently met with an incarcerated person who experiences homelessness, acute mental illness and is Deaf. This has limited the person’s ability to access resources.
The person voluntary met with a Jail Transition Coordinator and completed referrals to housing programs, mental health treatment, and supports specific to the Deaf community.

Upon release, the individual connected with services and is doing well.
We hope the person continues to experience success in the community. If they do come back to jail, the Jail Transition Coordination Team will again help them make connections from inside the walls.

Promoting mental well‑being within our facility begins with addressing misconceptions through professionalism, empathy, and accurate information. By strengthening our understanding of mental health in correctional settings, we support the individuals in our custody with the compassion and clarity needed for meaningful progress.

Inside the Walls:

During a recent security check staff, discovered and confiscated homemade alcohol from a housing unit. This is commonly referred to as, “Pruno.” Consumption of pruno can lead to life-threatening illnesses like, Botulism or Acute Alcohol Poisoning. All intoxicants are strictly prohibited in our facility.

Our Officers’ swift response and vigilance allowed the items to be safely removed, and secured the area without incident. Maintaining a safe and healthy environment remains one of our highest priorities. Routine searches, thorough staff training, and consistent monitoring help us keep a safe and secure facility.
