Latino Community Resource Group began as neighbors helping neighbors access information, resources and opportunity. Today, it continues as a vibrant grassroots network rooted in connection, advocacy and care.

Each year, they host the Multicultural Resource Fair — a joyful day of culture and community support.

This Saturday, Community Foundation staff and board members are volunteering at the event. We’re honored to support organizations like LCRG that turn local leadership into lasting impact and help lay the groundwork for community success. We hope to see you there!

Our Annual Luncheon is almost here, and we're excited to celebrate the people helping build a stronger, more connected southwest Washington. Two extraordinary people have been leading by example for decades—the 2026 Philanthropists of the Year, Deborah D. and Paul B. Speer.

Thoughtful, curious and deeply committed to equity, the Speers have invested not only their resources, but also their time, expertise and leadership in service of lasting community change. They have touched many sectors, including education, healthcare, housing, food security, environmental stewardship and independent journalism, always with a focus on creating a community where everyone belongs and flourishes.

Through partnerships with more than 40 local nonprofits, they have demonstrated that meaningful progress is built over time through collaboration and shared responsibility. Their generosity, vision and willingness to engage deeply with the issues facing our region model what “laying the groundwork” looks like in action.

Congratulations, Deborah and Paul, on being nominated and selected as the 2026 Philanthropists of the Year. We are humbled to live in community with you and look forward to honoring your remarkable contributions on June 2.

Philanthropy is more than a donation. It’s investing in opportunity. Strengthening the systems people rely on. Creating the conditions for communities to thrive.

The late Paul Christensen pushed philanthropy to its edge, seeking out novel ways to support the communities he cared so deeply about. From his years-long dedication to the Hough neighborhood to his creation of the innovative Realvest Foundation, Paul shared his philanthropic creativity with anyone he touched.

This year, we’re proud to honor Paul posthumously with the Catalyst Award for Philanthropic Innovation. This honor is reserved for community members who demonstrate outstanding philanthropic creativity, going beyond what our community is already doing to find truly new ways to invest in our collective future.

Paul’s life and legacy is a critical part of southwest Washington’s foundation, and we look forward to continuing his important work for decades to come.

One effort makes a difference. Connected efforts transform a region.

SW Washington LULAC Council #47013 beautifully demonstrates the spirit of Groundwork. As a local chapter of the nation’s longest-standing Latino and Hispanic civil rights organization, they not only have deep roots and a rich history of power building, but they have also been innovative in how they are shaping the future of our community. LULAC SW WA Council 47013 is dedicated to involving young people in their work, encouraging them to co-create the community they want for themselves and their future families. They are also nimble and responsive to immediate needs, activating networks of caring community members to work together to keep each other safe.

Join us in congratulating SW Washington LULAC Council #47013 for being nominated and selected to receive this year’s Community Champion Award. We are proud to honor your organization for the critical work you do in making southwest Washington a place where everyone is safe, seen and supported.
