🌟 A Bold Step Toward Vandalia’s Future 🌟

What do we want Vandalia to be in the years ahead?

That question is at the heart of an exciting new partnership between the City of Vandalia, the Vandalia Civic Advancement Association, and the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs as we launch a community-driven strategic visioning process focused on shaping the future of our community.

This initiative is about bringing people together. Residents, business owners, educators, community organizations, and local leaders will have the opportunity to share ideas, identify priorities, and help create a roadmap for future growth and success.

Together, we will explore topics such as:
🏘️ Housing and residential growth
💼 Economic and workforce development
🎯 Recreation and quality of life amenities
🏛️ Downtown vitality
🌎 Tourism and regional promotion
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Youth and family opportunities
🚧 Community assets and infrastructure
📈 Regional competitiveness and growth

The goal is simple: develop a shared vision for Vandalia that strengthens our quality of life, supports economic vitality, attracts families and businesses, and positions our community for long-term success.

The future of Vandalia will not be shaped by one organization or one individual. It will be shaped by all of us working together, listening to one another, and building on the strengths that make our community special.

We are excited to begin this journey and invite everyone to take part in the conversation. The ideas generated through this process will help guide future collaboration, investment, and community advancement efforts for years to come.

🏠 We Need Your Input on Housing in Illinois! 🏠

Housing affordability, availability, workforce housing, senior housing, rentals, starter homes, and community growth have all been important topics of conversation across our region. Now is your opportunity to help shape the future of housing in Illinois by completing the Illinois Housing Blueprint Community Survey.

The Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) is gathering feedback from residents across the state to better understand the housing needs, concerns, and goals of communities like ours. The information collected will help guide future housing policies, programs, investments, and development opportunities throughout Illinois.

In 2026, the United States will celebrate its 250th Birthday (the Semiquincentennial), and the City of Vandalia wants this to be a true community-wide celebration.

📋 Pictured below is our America 250 Event Submission & Support Form — this is how businesses, organizations, non-profits, schools, and community groups can share events they’re planning or ideas they’d like to explore.

Using the form, you can:
✔ Submit event details for promotion on City websites and pages
✔ Request planning, marketing, or logistical assistance
