There were plenty of donut holes enjoyed and lots of hot cocoa to go around as we spent time connecting with some of our youngest community members.

Officer Blackford led a special story time with the kids, followed by an opportunity for everyone to check out a police cruiser up close. Seeing the excitement and curiosity from the children made for a wonderful morning!

A special thank you to the Vandalia Library for hosting this fantastic community event, and to our generous sponsors, Dunkin' and Day Air Credit Union, for helping make it possible.

We are grateful for every opportunity to engage with our youth, build positive relationships, and make lasting connections within our community. 💙

Important information about a gas leak in Vandalia.

There is a gas leak at the construction site on Bristol at Brownschool Roads. We are aware of the odor of gas in the area, the gas company is on scene and is working to make repairs. This process could take 3-6 more hours. Please do not call 911 to report the odor outside, we are aware, we have investigated it and the gas company is working to resolve it.

If you live in this area try to keep your homes closed up, if you would start to smell gas inside your home, please call 911 and let us respond to investigate. We will work to provide any critical updates to this situation using our social media pages and/or the city's mass notification system (Hyper Reach) should anything major changes. Have a good evening!

Yesterday, Det. Estepp, Sgt. Nagel, and Officer Blackford had the privilege of participating in the 2026 Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ohio!

Each year, law enforcement officers across Ohio carry the “Flame of Hope” to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics athletes throughout our state. The torch symbolizes courage, inclusion, determination, and the unwavering spirit of these incredible athletes.

Vandalia Division of Police teamed up with members from other local agencies to participate. The southern leg of the run carried the Torch from the Centerville Police Department to the Dayton Police Department. The torch will make its way to The Ohio State University on May 29, 2026, where the flame will be used to light the cauldron, declaring the opening ceremonies of the 2026 State Summer Games for Special Olympics in Columbus.

Thank you to each of our members that participated in this event and good luck to all the athletes participating in the State Summer Games.

💛 Together, we carry the Flame of Hope.
