June 14 - Flag Day

In the United States, Flag Day is celebrated on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress.

Today we celebrate flag day and remember those who died and fought protecting it. We live in the land of the free because of the brave.

Dear Elementary Families,

We are currently in the process of updating our webpage and creating a school app, both to bring you the latest news and information regarding our school.

With these two updates we are streamlining our communication on social media and will be using one Facebook account for the district, The Van-Far School District. If you have not liked and followed that page, please do so soon. The majority of our post will be on that page. For the most part I will not be posting to the Van-Far Elementary page after June 30, 2020.

The school also has a Twitter account we encourage you to follow, Van-Far School District.

We will follow up with more information about the updated webpage and new app when they are ready to use.

Couple of reminders:

If you still have library books checked out, we need those returned ASAP. If you have misplaced the books, they will need to be paid for. Please stop by or call the office to make arrangements to drop off the books or pay for the books.

Tuesday, June 2nd NO TAX INCREASE bond issue.

Proposition INDIANS priority #1 is to address elementary building rain water drainage/parking lot, currently water is backing up into classrooms on rainy days.

Drainage improvements will be completed followed by a complete removal and replacement with an improved concrete Handicap accessible parking lot /sidewalks with vastly improved lighting.

Van-Far R-1 is your school, a community investment. Thank you so much for your continued love and support!

Tuesday June 2nd, Van Far R-1 has a ballot request for a “No Tax Increase” Bond issue. No tax means the district restructures currents bonds to capture funds for facility improvements. There will be NO increase in your property tax.

Priority #1
Elementary parking lot
-correct water drainage off school building so no rain water enters facility
-completely remove existing parking lot
-address base rock for structural integrity of new lot
-replace with reinforced concrete and proper drainage with concrete curbing
-widen entrance and exit
-increase safety of bus loop
-new ADA sidewalks
-handicap parking
-new parking lot lights
