📢 Local Earned Income Tax Reminder Notices

Berkheimer is currently mailing reminder notices to residents who may still need to file a 2025 Local Earned Income Tax Return or provide additional information regarding their filing status.

If you receive a notice, please review it carefully and respond to Berkheimer as soon as possible. In many cases, the matter can be resolved quickly by following the instructions included with the notice.

Senior Farmer's Market Vouchers Distribution Schedule

Distribution of vouchers will be strictly IN-PERSON. In order to receive vouchers, a resident must be 60 years old in the year 2026, meet income eligibility guidelines and live in Lackawanna County.

If an eligible senior cannot attend a distribution event, a PROXY can act in their place with a completed proxy form (shorturl.at/eYNFV). If you need a form mailed to you, please call the Lackawanna County Area Agency on Aging at 570-963-6740 ext. 1444.

The Lackawanna-Susquehanna BH/ID/EI Program, together with the with United Way of Lackawanna, Wayne & Pike’s Success by Six initiative and other providers, announce a month-long 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗧 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗢𝗚𝗘𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥 campaign focused on reaching families with children up to age five who may be underserved or unaware of services available in Lackawanna County.

Three community fairs in April will offer information about:
➡️ Free preschool through Pre-K Counts and Head Start
➡️ Quality childcare starting at $5 a week
➡️ Free dental, medical and vision screenings provided by The Wright Center for Community Health and the Lackawanna Blind Association
➡️ Free parenting support provided by Outreach Center for Community Resources and Early Head Start
➡️ Early intervention, autism and behavioral support services provided by NEIU, Lackawanna/Susquehanna BH/ID/EI Program and Friendship House

Local school districts also will be on hand to provide information about kindergarten screening and registration.

Start Strong Together community fairs are planned for Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on:
