What an incredible stop to this barn fire this evening. Thanks to the WTFD crew and the Vanlue Fire crew that responded. We were able to stop this fire to its origin with minimal exposures. Also thanks to NBS Joint Fire and Bascom Fire for their response with tankers. And as always, thanks to Hanco for being there if needed. We were able to contain this building to its origin. Saved a large pull barn and a garden shed with no damage to the house. Awesome work to everyone!!!

Yesterday, at 4PM your Vanlue Firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire in TR 173, between Vanlue and Findlay. Upon arrival, we found heavy smoke coming from the east side of the building. The structure was a four story, remodeled barn. Crews made entry and were met by heavy fire. With a great collaborated effort with Washington Twp (Arcadia) we were able to get the fire knocked down. We would like to send a huge thank you to our auto aid department, Washing Twp for their quick response. We would also like to thank Arlington Fire Department and Delaware Twp fire departments for mutual aid with their tankers. There were no injuries as a result of this fire.

This week is National Public Safety Telecommunications Week! Our dispatchers that work for Hancock County are the best of the best! They are the ones that take the call, attempt to gather valuable information about the call, while trying to be the calming voice to the screaming caller on the other end. They have to be prepared at all times to take any distress calls that you can think of. Our dispatchers are our (first responders) lifeline. We want to say a huge THANK YOU!! You are greatly appreciated!! We couldn’t do our job without you!!

It is with great gratitude to announce that Vanlue Fire Department has been awarded an equipment grant from the State Fire Marshal’s Office in the amount of$13,080. These moneys will be used to purchase essential firefighting equipment that will enhance our abilities to continue to provide the best firefighting services to the wonderful community that we serve. We work diligently to find ways to better fund our department and grants are always a huge part of this. Applying for grants is a large, time consuming process and we would like to thank Wanda Bushong and the Amanda Township Trustees for working with us during this process! We would also like to thank our great community for your continued support!!

This morning, myself and several of your Vanlue Firefighters are attending a Electric Vehicle/Lithium Ion Battery course being held at the Hancock County EMA Office.
