Citizens of Vardaman:

You may be experiencing a power outage at the current moment. A transformer has blown on North Main St near the northern city limits marker. We ask that you all stay patient and AWARE (as they will be in and near North Main St working) of the great crews of Natchez Trace Electric Power Association as they work diligently to restore power! Thank you!

Citizens of Vardaman,

As we monitor the incoming weather reports, we are asking everyone to prepare for a potentially severe ice storm moving into our area over the weekend. I want to urge all residents to take this situation seriously to ensure the safety of our community.

🚨 STAY OFF THE ROADS: Ice creates extremely hazardous driving conditions. We strongly advise you to avoid traveling unless it is a genuine emergency. Keeping the roads clear allows our first responders and utility crews to navigate safely.

⚡ PREPARE FOR POWER OUTAGES: Given the risk of heavy ice accumulation on trees and power lines, outages are a distinct possibility. Please ensure your devices are charged and you have flashlights, batteries, and blankets ready. And please keep our lineman in mind if running a generator to NOT BACKFEED into the power lines! We must keep our lineman safe as they work to restore power!

📢 STAY INFORMED: We are working closely with our Emergency Management Director of Calhoun County, Randy Skinner. Randy does an amazing job at keeping us updated and informed of all weather changes and road conditions. I highly encourage everyone to keep a close eye on the CalhounCo Ema page for his real-time updates.

❄️ BE SAFE & CHECK ON NEIGHBORS: Please stay indoors, stay warm, and check on those who may need extra assistance during this time.
Your safety is our number one priority. Let’s look out for one another and stay prepared!

Stay safe and stay warm Vardaman!
