🏈💙 IT’S GAMEDAY, RAMS! 💙🏈

It’s finally GAMEDAY! 🐏 We wanted to share our post from earlier this week as a reminder of the designated parking locations and entrances for tonight’s game.

🚒 Our firefighters will be on hand to:
• Assist with parking in the handicap-accessible parking areas
• Ensure that only certified personnel enter through the North Parking Entrance of the field

We ask everyone to please follow the posted parking guidelines and listen to our firefighters and school personnel as they help keep things moving safely.

🚨 Please take a moment to review the map and follow the marked parking areas and entrances. This will help keep traffic moving and, most importantly, ensure our emergency responders have the access they need if an emergency occurs.

🚨 Tree Down on Hwy 341-Roadway is Clear🚨

At approximately 11:56 P.M., Vardaman Volunteer Fire Department was paged out to a report of a tree down on Hwy 341, blocking both lanes of traffic.

Upon arrival, our first units immediately began working to clear the roadway and remove the tree and debris. Thanks to the quick response and teamwork, the roadway has been completely cleared and is now open to traffic.

We would also like to thank the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance on scene and helping keep the area safe while crews worked.

🚒 Volunteer Firefighters Recognition Day 🚒

Today, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the dedicated volunteers of the Vardaman Volunteer Fire Department.

Our volunteers give countless hours to serve and protect our community. They leave their families, miss birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, and other important family gatherings—all to answer the call when their community needs them.

Being a volunteer firefighter is more than just responding to calls. It means sacrificing time, comfort, and moments with loved ones to help make our community a safer and better place.

EXTREME HEAT WARNINGS EXTENDED:
Extreme Heat Warnings have been extended to cover much of Mississippi through Monday. Highs on Monday will reach the upper 90s to low 100s, with heat index values generally between 105° and 115°. This is significant heat that can quickly become dangerous with prolonged outdoor activity.

At approximately 9:04 P.M., Vardaman Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a report of an A/C unit that was popping and smoking.

Upon arrival, firefighters found that the unit was no longer smoking. Power was disconnected from the unit to prevent it from powering back on and to help ensure the safety of the occupants.

Firefighters also used a thermal imaging device to check the unit for any remaining heat or hot spots. No hot spots or abnormal heat signatures were detected.

Engine 401, Engine 404, and Rescue 405 responded to the call.

No injuries were reported.

At approximately 8:00 P.M., Vardaman Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a reported vehicle fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that a basket of clothes which had recently been dried had spontaneously combusted inside the vehicle. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and prevented it from spreading further. Damage was limited to the back seat area of the vehicle.

Engine 404 and Rescue 405 responded to the incident.

This serves as an important reminder to allow freshly dried clothing to cool before placing it in laundry baskets or leaving it inside a vehicle. Heat trapped within clothing, especially items containing oils or certain fabrics, can occasionally lead to spontaneous combustion.

No injuries were reported.
