🚨Community Yard Sale at the Vardaman Fire Department!🚨

The Vardaman Fire Department is proud to allow Free’s Corner to use our station for this special community event on July 3rd from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

If you're looking for furniture, clothes, household items, or unique odds and ends, be sure to stop by and take a look. You never know what treasures you might find!

In addition, donations to the Vardaman Fire Department will be accepted during the event. Any donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated and helps us continue serving our community.

We would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Memorial Weekend as we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

As you enjoy time with family and friends, please keep these safety tips in mind to help make it a great weekend for everyone:

• **Drive safely** – Slow down, avoid distractions, and never drive under the influence.
• **Wear your seatbelt** – Every trip, every time.
• **Practice grill safety** – Keep grills away from homes, decks, and anything flammable. Never leave them unattended.
• **Be cautious with fireworks** – Follow local laws and keep water nearby.
• **Stay hydrated** – With warmer temperatures, drink plenty of water and take breaks from the heat.
• **Watch children closely** – Especially around water, grills, and outdoor activities.
• **If you’re boating or swimming** – Always wear life jackets and supervise swimmers.
• **Check on elderly family members and neighbors** during the heat.

Most importantly, take a moment this weekend to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

We would like to give a big shoutout to our mutual aid partners.

Around 12:45 P.M., the Vardaman Volunteer Fire Department was toned out to a reported structure fire. Due to limited daytime personnel, a request for mutual aid was made to Southwest Fire. Their quick response and assistance played a huge role in the outcome of this incident, and without their help, yesterday could have turned out very differently.

We are extremely thankful for the strong working relationships between departments and for those who answered the call when help was needed most. Thank you again to everyone who responded and assisted on scene!
