What an incredible experience at the 2026 New Jersey Head Start Association Annual Conference!

We are truly honored and grateful for the opportunity to have our Early Head Start Director present:
“Beyond Self-Care: Building a Culture of Wellness & Staff Morale in Head Start Sites”

Thank you to everyone who attended, participated, reflected, and shared so openly during our session. The conversations around staff wellness, psychological safety, communication, recognition, shared ownership, and building intentional workplace culture were powerful and inspiring.

A very special thank you to our amazing board member and dedicated teacher for taking the time to attend and support this important work. Your presence, engagement, and commitment to strengthening staff morale and wellness mean so much.

Seeing leaders and educators come together to focus not only on caring for children—but also caring for the adults who serve them every day—was incredibly meaningful.

Remember:
Small, intentional actions create lasting culture change.

This week, we celebrated our incredible teachers who pour their hearts into our children every single day.

From personal massages, special treats, and surprises to moments of appreciation and encouragement, we wanted our teachers to feel just how valued they truly are. Their patience, creativity, kindness, and dedication help shape the future one little learner at a time.

Thank you to our amazing preschool team for all that you do — your impact goes far beyond the classroom, and UTCAO is so grateful for each of you!

There’s something special about music in the classroom 🎶 One of our amazing team members spent time playing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star on the keyboard for our preschoolers, and you can see just how much the children were drawn in by the moment. it’s a reminder of how powerful music can be in early childhood—supporting learning, creativity, and connection.

Moments like these are what make our program so meaningful.

Our classrooms came alive with creativity as our little learners explored ways to care for our planet through hands-on Earth Day projects!

From our beautiful “Save Our Earth” display to imaginative recycled creations like robots, gardens, ocean habitats, and even a juice dispenser—our students showed how powerful the message of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle can be when combined with creativity and teamwork ♻️🌍

Each project highlights the importance of protecting our environment while encouraging innovation using everyday materials. We are so proud of our preschoolers for thinking green and learning how small actions can make a big difference!

Thank you to our amazing teachers and families for supporting these meaningful learning experiences 💚

Thanks to a generous grant from the Columbia Bank Foundation, UTCAO is bringing a brand-new garden project to life for our children and teachers. Our outdoor space will soon feature creative planter boxes shaped like trains—where young learners can grow fruits and vegetables while exploring nature in a fun, hands-on way.

This project is more than just gardening—it’s about teaching healthy habits, responsibility, and a love for the environment. We can’t wait to watch our little gardeners plant, nurture, and harvest together!

A heartfelt thank you to Columbia Bank Foundation for supporting our vision and investing in our community’s future.

Women's History Month Spotlight

Today, we are proud to recognize Ms. Khayana who is also celebrating her birthday. Her primary goal is to foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that empowers young minds to become the best they can be. She has been a preschool teacher for over 20 years and is passionate about supporting the growth and development of young children.

She earned her associate’s degree in theology from Bethlehem Bream College. In her classroom, she strives to create a space where every child feels safe, respected, and valued, regardless of their background or learning style. She believes learning should be both fun and engaging and uses a variety of teaching methods to support each child’s unique needs.

Ms. Khayana is committed to continuous professional development. She regularly seeks opportunities to grow by attending workshops, taking courses, and reading educational research. She recently completed her CDA coursework and is confident that she will successfully obtain her credential.

Ms. Khayana values collaboration with her fellow educators. By sharing ideas, learning from one another, and supporting each other, she believes that we can continue to grow as teachers and provide the best possible learning experiences for our children.
