SPECIAL EMERGENCY BOARD MEETING

The Town of Venice Board will have a special emergency board meeting today, June 30, 2026, at the Town of Venice Offices, at 3:15PM.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss whether to support a lawsuit against the NYS Office of Renewable Energy Siting (ORES). Supporting the lawsuit would not involve any financial commitment by the Town of Venice. The lawsuit asserts that ORES failed to follow proper procedure in its handling of the application for a permit for the Agricola wind energy development.

The meeting is being held on short notice because the Town government only learned about the lawsuit today, and there is a legal deadline tomorrow, July 1. The meeting is open to the public who wish to attend in person, and will also be open to persons who wish to attend virtually via ZOOM teleconference. Here is the information for the virtual meeting:

As we approach our Nation’s 250th birthday, our town historian, Phyllis Stanton, has compiled the following list of Revolutionary War Veterans, along with a map of the cemeteries in the Town of Venice highlighting where most are buried. More detailed information about these soldiers is available in the Clerk’s office during business hours (Tuesdays 3pm to 6pm, Wednesdays 9 am to Noon, Thursdays 9 am to Noon).
