🚤 KNOW BEFORE YOU BOAT

Visitors to Ski Beach may notice some new signs recently installed around the Ventnor City boat launch.

The Ventnor City Police Department is proud to support Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) New Jersey and its “Know Before You Boat” campaign, an initiative focused on preventing boating under the influence and keeping our waterways safe.

The message is simple: BUI = DUI.

Alcohol and other impairing substances can significantly affect judgment, reaction time, coordination and a boat operator’s ability to safely navigate our waterways. Boating also brings additional factors including sun, heat, wind, waves and fatigue that can further contribute to impairment.

Before heading out on the water:

• Designate a sober boat operator before leaving the dock.
• Never operate a boat after consuming alcohol or other impairing drugs.
• Remember that boating under the influence is illegal in New Jersey and can result in serious legal consequences.
• Look out for your passengers, fellow boaters and everyone sharing our waterways.

Whether you’re fishing, cruising the back bays or spending the day with family and friends, plan ahead and make sure everyone gets home safely.

Know Before You Boat. BUI = DUI.
