🚂🌊 ALL ABOARD!

Arcade is always looking for new, inclusive, and FUN ways for our participants to get out, explore, and experience everything our community has to offer—and we think we found a good one!

Program Supervisor Jennifer Chavez, along with Jerry and Jessica, recently hopped aboard the train for a trial run to Carpinteria to see what the experience was all about. The verdict? They had an amazing day! 🙌

The adventure started with a beautiful ride along the California coastline, chatting with the conductor and fellow passengers and taking in the views right outside the train windows. Once in Carpinteria, the group explored local shops, grabbed some lunch, visited the beach, and enjoyed time at the beautiful state park. 🏖️☀️

Then it was back aboard for the ride home to the Fairgrounds stop—and when they returned to Arcade, they couldn’t wait to tell everyone about their adventure!

By taking advantage of a shareable 10-ride pass, trips to Carpinteria or Santa Barbara can be just $5 each way, making this an exciting and affordable option for future outings.

More than anything, we love finding opportunities that give our participants the chance to explore new places, connect with their community, build independence, and create new experiences together. 💙

Judging by the reviews from our first three travelers, we have a feeling there will be plenty more train adventures ahead!

🚂 Next stop… who knows?! ALL ABOARD!

⭐🌟 Our Walker Street artists are reaching for the stars!

Participants got creative with the Stars from a Star Campaign, designing their own colorful and unique stars that will be put on display at the upcoming 2026 California Gathering for Person Centered Practices!

Hosted by Tri-Counties Regional Center and The Learning Community for Person Centered Practices, the three-day California Gathering brings together self-advocates, families, professionals, providers, and community partners for learning, connection, and inspiration. This year's theme, “Every Voice. Every Choice. Every Day.”, is a perfect reminder of just how important it is for everyone to have the opportunity to express themselves, make choices, and have their voice heard.

And our Walker Street crew certainly found a creative way to express themselves! 🎨⭐ We love seeing the imagination, personality, and effort that went into every one of these stars. Knowing their artwork will be part of a larger gathering celebrating person-centered practices makes them shine even brighter.

Fantastic job to all of our artists at Walker Street! We can't wait to see your stars on display in October. Keep shining! ✨💙

🏛️ ADVOCACY SPOTLIGHT🗣️

For more than a decade, The McCune Foundation has stood alongside The Arc of Ventura County as part of Our Caring Community—helping advance self-advocacy, leadership, and inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The McCune Foundation was established in 1990 by George D. McCune and Sara Miller McCune, the founders and principal management team (for 25 years) of SAGE Publications, Inc. Since 2012, their generous funding and partnership have helped empower our Co-Advocates of Ventura County to raise their voices, advocate for their rights, educate others, and lead change in their communities and beyond.

Our heartfelt gratitude to The McCune Foundation for their unwavering commitment to equity, opportunity, and belonging. Together, we are building a Ventura County where every person is valued, included, and heard.

You can be part of Our Caring Community, too. Your gift helps create opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to grow, lead, connect, and thrive.

🎪☀️ What a way to wrap up an unforgettable summer!

Yesterday, our Arcade Day Program celebrated its annual End of Summer Bash—one of the biggest and most anticipated events of the year! This year's carnival-themed celebration had it all: ring toss, co****le, fun games, a festive photo booth, and delicious tacos from Tacos Avila. 🌮🎉

What truly makes this event so special is the incredible dedication of our staff, who transform Arcade into a colorful carnival with creative decorations, themed table settings, and countless personal touches. Their hard work and enthusiasm help create a day our participants look forward to all year long.

The End of Summer Bash is more than just a party—it's a celebration of friendships, memories, laughter, and another amazing season spent together. As summer comes to a close and we welcome the start of fall, we're grateful for every smile, every shared moment, and everyone who made this summer one to remember.

Thank you to our participants, staff, families, and community partners for making this an incredible season. We hope everyone in The Arc family is doing well, and here's to all the exciting adventures still to come! 💙🍂
