United EMS wants you to know the facts, and we agree!
UEMSW is telling you they don’t have to build from the ground up. Ask them, how many attorneys do they employ? How many lobbyists and full-time staff members? How many members are currently paying dues to support their ‘infrastructure?’
Unlike UEMSW, the IAEP already has independent resources in place to help you immediately following the election. We do not have to ask SEIU for their resources to provide you with servicing, while UEMSW will absolutely have to rely on AFSCME for any resources moving forward.
Fact: The IAEP is operated from offices around the country, including our office in Ventura, which is a hub for our Southern California locals.
Fact: The IAEP is prepared to move forward with officer elections following the vote, which will allow YOU to own your local’s future. Our infrastructure has been in place around the country for over 20 years and we are fully prepared to move forward as we work with your local to adapt to your needs specifically.
Fact: The IAEP’s resources are in place and have stood the test of time. UEMSW will be building an organization from scratch in order to service you and your fellow members and will have to rely wholly on AFSCME for support—if AFSCME will support them! Simply put, UEMSW does not currently represent any members, in California or otherwise, and does not have any independent resources in place. While AFSCME’s resources are available, they do not represent any private sector EMS professionals and have never bargained with your employer.
