Addison County Homelessness Awareness Day is today! We invite community members to join in a candlelight walk and vigil starting at 4:30pm at College Park in downtown Middlebury.

Susan Whitmore, Executive Director of JGHS, was on the news this morning discussing the event and the worsening housing crisis.

Homelessness Awareness Day is held every year, but advocates warn that this year comes as more people are staying in shelters longer, with fewer housing options available.

Addison County Homeless Awareness Day 2026
Remembering Those We've Lost

The Addison County Housing Coalition (ACHC) invites community members to participate in a candlelight walk and vigil to commemorate Vermont Homeless Awareness Day 2026 on January 22, 2026, 4:30pm-6pm in downtown Middlebury.

In recognition of those from the unhoused community who have died in Addison County, we will gather at 4:30pm at College Park (across from the Academy Street Bus Stop) in Middlebury. The event will include a candlelight walk down Main Street, culminating at the Town Green Gazebo with a moment of silence and remarks from community leaders. LED candles will be provided.
