Hello everyone, BESS is the hot topic in the big city right now. We know there are feelings and incorrect information relative to the departments oversight, authority and planning. As this project is still in concept we have requested if it was to move forward a 3rd party emergency response plan provided by the developer at no cost to the city. They shared examples of plans from other municipalities that were created and we found them to be inline with our expectations.
Additionally, we have met with state departments to discuss the risks and the response needs and we are well positioned to handle these just like the others that exist in our response area.

🙏 A huge thank you to Aubuchon Ace Hardware for their incredible support through their Round Up Campaign and raffle!
And an even bigger thank you to every customer who said "yes" to rounding up at the register. When you think about it — if the total raised came from individual contributions of less than a dollar each, that's a lot of yes's adding up to something truly meaningful.
💛 Funds raised will directly support our Technical Rescue Team and the specialized work they do beyond our everyday firefighting operations, training, equipment, and response capabilities that make a real difference when it matters most.

Last night during our monthly meeting we had the honor of recognizing four outstanding past members of our department. These members all retired over the past couple of years after delivering decades of service to the City of Vergennes and all the communities we serve. Combined, these four individuals represent 159 years of experience and that is truly remarkable.
We cannot thank them enough for their many years of dedication, service, and leadership.

🔥 Senior Firefighter Patrick Crowley — 37 Years

Roadway is back open

VFD is on scene on West Main Street in Vergennes with a car accident in the area of Panton Road, roadway is closed at this time. Please find alternative routes and expect long delays.

🔥 Yesterday, VFD responded to 3 calls 2 of them unpermitted burns, one of which resulted in a shed fire.
Before you burn, please check with your local fire warden to obtain the proper permit. And always maintain safe distances from structures, equipment, and anything else you'd like to keep around.
We're a friendly bunch we'd just prefer to meet you at a community event rather than in your backyard!

🚨 Vergennes Fire Department | Motor Vehicle Accidents
Over the past two weeks, VFD has responded to multiple motor vehicle accidents in our area including a two-vehicle collision and a commercial vehicle that left the roadway and struck trees.
Our crews are trained and ready, but the best outcome is the one we never have to respond to.
🚗 Please slow down, stay focused, and drive safe.
Buckle up. Put the phone down. Every trip matters.
