VERMILION HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCES THE FEBRUARY LION'S CLUB STUDENT OF THE MONTH:

The February Student of the Month is a young man who has his hands in many different endeavors in the classroom, on the athletic field and in society.

In the classroom, he is ranked currently as #5 in the Senior class with a stellar 4.36 GPA while taking a majority of upper level classes. He is a member of National Honor Society, National French Honor Society, and Student Council. He has also been in the Robotics classes for three years. He has been awarded All Sandusky Bay Academics Awards each of his 4 years of outdoor track and each of his 4 years of varsity soccer. He has also been awarded an Academic All-Ohio Award and has earned his Academic Letter and his Lamp of Learning Pin. He was also chosen as a representative to Buckeye Boys State.

On the athletic field, he has been a standout for both the boys soccer team and the track team. Each year, he has been awarded varsity letters - totaling 8 total. He has been selected All Sandusky Bay Conference for both soccer and track and was recognized this year in soccer as 1st team all SBC, 1st team all Lorain County and 1st team all District as well as 1st team All- Ohio. He holds two school records in outdoor track and is a state qualifier in indoor track.

When he is not kicking a ball or sprinting around, or studying, he finds time to be part of the rock climbing club at Vermilion. He is a member of the ski club as well. He works at Romps Water port and volunteers at Second Harvest Food bank. And he can even be found assisting teachers and staff at Vermilion Elementary School.

When asked what his teachers might say about him - consistently hard working, competitive and goal-oriented were used most often. He is a young man who leads by example and his pleasant personality and easy going manner make him an asset to any class.

Tonight’s Student of the Month for February is Brady Parker. Brady is carrying on a legacy, as his sister Ava is a former student of the month, and he is the son of proud parents Heather and Mark Parker.

Upon graduation, Brady is going to attend the Ohio State Honors program pushing Aerospace engineering as my major. Afterwards, he is planning to pursue his Masters Degree.

Vermilion High School announces the Vermilion Lions Club Student of the Month for October

The October Student of the Month is a standout in and out of the classroom.

As a student, he ranks at the top of his class with an outstanding 4.4 GPA. He has earned Honor Roll each of his 7 semesters at VHS and has been awarded TWO academic letters. He has also been selected for the All-Sandusky Bay Conference Academic Award several times and has also been selected for an All State Academic Award. He is a member of the National Honor Society and Peer Leadership. He also is a member of Big Buddies.

When he is not working on his academics, he is probably working on his community service. As a member of LEO CLUB, he has participated in Cookies and Crafts with Santa, Socktober - a collection drive for socks for the needy, numerous canned food drives and glasses drives. He also is a member of Link Crew and Interact Club, both dealing with the community spirit and unity of the student body.

After working on his academics and volunteering, he spends time working on his athletics where he is a member of the football team, the baseball team, and the track team. He also has been involved in basketball. He is a three time letter winner in football and two time letter winner in baseball and track. He was voted All Sandusky Bay Conference in football, baseball and track. He also has been named to the All District football team and he is a state qualifier in track. He currently holds the record for most rushing yards in a game and in a season for football. He was also named Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division Most Valuable Performer

When he is not in the classroom or volunteering, he enjoys spending time rock climbing as a member of the Rock Climbing Club or skiing as a member of Ski Club. He also works at Quaker Steak and L**e.

The Lions Club October Student of the Month is Evan Kuhns, son of Erica and Chad Kuhns.

After graduation, Evan is planning on attending the University of Miami of Ohio.

Vermilion High School announces the Vermilion Lions Club Student of the Month for November!

The November Student of the Month is a solid performer in and out of the classroom. She boasts a solid 3.734 GPA and is enrolled in several College level courses at Vermilion. She has been awarded her Academic Letter and has been named a Super Sailor to recognize her contributions academically and socially for the betterment of the high school.

She is a member of National Honor Society and Peer Leadership. As well, she is an active member of Student Council. She also holds the rank of LEO club Vice-president. She excels exceptionally well in Art class where she has earned numerous awards for her art including the ones from Lorain County ESC art show.

She has won several athletic letters for cheerleading in both football and basketball. Some of her LEO club and Peer leadership activities include The Glasses Drive, Locks of Love, Gazebo Decorating, Cookies and Crafts with Santa, Trunk or Treat, Bingo, Card decorating for the nursing homes and Sock-tober.

When asked, several of her teachers replied that she is a hard worker and enjoys the people around her.

The Vermilion Lions Club November Student of the Month is Suzi Holmes, daughter of Aimee and Brian Holmes.

Upon graduation, Suzanne plans to attend college and major in Marketing with a minor in Photography.

Vermilion High School announces the Vermilion Lions Club Student of the Month for September:

This year’s first Student of the Month is a wonderful young lady who represents some of the finest qualities of what Vermilion offers. She is a solid student who ranks in the top 30% of her class. She also has been, and is, involved in a number of sports and extracurriculars at Vermilion.

As a student, she is perennially on the honor roll and has been awarded her Academic Letter and a certificate of attendance. She has also been selected to be a representative to Buckeye Girls State for the class of 2024. She is an active member of the National Honor Society. She is the LEO Club President, the Senior class President, a member of the Principal’s advisory committee, a Sailor Ambassador two times and a Super Sailor 3 times.

One of the top accomplishments for the band is being field director and the head majorette. Our September Student of the Month is the head majorette for Vermilion High School Marching Band. She has been awarded the Golden Plume for the most outstanding band performer in each section THREE times. She has also earned three varsity letters in golf and indoor track. She is also involved in Peer Leadership and Big Buddies.

Outside of school, she is involved in working at the Dollhouse Boutique and was involved in Girl Scouts, reaching the rank of cadet-level. She also can be seen helping at the band camp and during Future Sailors night.

When asked about what her teachers would say about her, she quoted Mr. Griffin as saying, “ one of the most conscientious and diligent students.” Mr. Lyons added she has a great work ethic and genuinely cares about her work.

The Lion's Club Student of the Month for September is Reece Holland, daughter of proud parents Gina Riccardi and John Holland.

The Vermilion Lions Club would like to thank everyone at the Woolybear Festival that enjoyed our World FamousFresh Cut Fries! You helped us sell out of our World Famous Fresh Cut Fries!!!! We went through over 650 pounds of potatoes. We would also like to thank the hard working Vermilion Leo Club for helping us today in our booth. Together We Serve!

Thank you to the Vermilion FFA Students for assisting with the park benches. Hopefully some future Lions in this group!
