Since 2014, local author David M. Hosmer has interviewed roughly 170 World War II veterans, capturing their powerful personal accounts and local ties in his book, Yankton’s Yardbirds: Stories About Yankton and Its World War II Veterans.

Join us to hear the remarkable stories behind these regional heroes and enjoy a time for Q&A with the author!

City crews are performing cleanup from damage that occurred with the storm on Tuesday, September 1. They will work in a triage fashion, taking care to ensure City-maintained streets are clear and structures are safe. When this process is complete, they will begin picking up limbs and tree-debris city wide. Please move storm tree debris to the right of way no later than Tuesday September 8.

Last night’s storm left a few extra branches in the way, but our crew (mostly Jeff) has been out helping clear the roads this morning to make sure everyone can get around safely.

If you’re looking to escape the cleanup for a bit, the library is open, cool, and fully stocked.
