Vermontville Township Library Launches “Learning Is Play” Kit Collection for Families and Children
Vermontville Township Library is excited to announce the launch of its new “Learning Is Play” Kit Collection, an innovative library program that allows families to check out themed kits filled with costumes, props, and hands-on materials designed to encourage imaginative play and creative learning. Funding for this project is provided in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library of Michigan.
The “Learning Is Play” kits provide children with opportunities to explore storytelling, role-playing, and interactive activities while developing important literacy, communication, and social skills. Each kit features a unique theme and includes costumes, dramatic play accessories, activity suggestions, and educational materials that inspire children to learn through creativity and exploration.
Themes may include community helpers, space adventures, fairy tales, nature science exploration, and more. The kits are designed for children and families to enjoy together at home, making learning fun, engaging, and accessible beyond the library walls.
“Imaginative play is an important part of childhood development,” said Carla Rumsey, Director at the Vermontville Township Library. “These kits give children the chance to build confidence, practice problem-solving, strengthen language skills, and explore new ideas through hands-on experiences. We are thrilled to offer families a new way to learn and play together.”
The kits will be available for checkout with a library card beginning May 14, 2026. Families can browse available kits through the library catalog or visit the library for more information.
The “Learning Is Play” Kit Collection is part of Vermontville Township Library’s ongoing commitment to providing creative educational resources and enriching opportunities for the community.
