If you've been wondering about our Building Healthy Families class, please join us Wednesday evening to learn a little bit more about the program 🍎

These classes run for 12 weeks, and are geared toward families with at least one child ages 6-12 with a BMI over the 85th percentile. We will be providing learning materials, a fun snack and activity, and a supportive, fun atmosphere where we can all learn together!

Cost: FREE!
Place: USU Extension office, 328 E 200 S
Time: 7pm

Did you know the Uintah County Extension Office has a freeze dryer available for community use?

Freeze drying is an excellent way to preserve fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, complete meals, herbs, and even treats while maintaining flavor, texture, and nutritional value. Whether you're looking to preserve your garden harvest, prepare emergency food supplies, or simply reduce food waste, our freeze dryer can help.

The freeze dryer is available by reservation and remains at the Extension Office for use. Reservations are made one week at a time, with a cost of $10 per batch.

If you've been curious about freeze drying but want to try it before you invest in your own machine, this is a great opportunity to try it out.

We are excited to have Emily Porter join USU Extension Uintah County as our Staff Assistant. Emily grew up in Vernal and has been living here since 2011. She stays busy traveling with her husband, and along with him, raising their six children. She enjoys camping, singing, and volunteering at her children’s school. She was recently in the Outlaw Trail Theatre production of The Prince of Egypt. We are excited to have Emily join us at USU Extension Uintah County!

We're gearing up for our class kickoff on August 26th, and we have room for a few more families!

This is a FREE class for qualifying families! (having at least one child that is age 6-12 and a BMI >85th percentile, see link)
