🌄🧗‍♀️ Adventure is waiting at the Ashley Gorge Via Ferrata — and making sure everyone is ready for the climb helps keep it fun for the whole family!
Before your young adventurer clips in, make sure they meet the route safety requirements:

📏Minimum reach: 62 inches from the ground
⚖️Minimum weight: 90 pounds

Climbers under 90 pounds must be accompanied by a professional guide and use a supplemental belay system on sections with significant vertical climbing.

These requirements help ensure the certified safety equipment functions properly and that climbers can safely reach the next hold along the route.

✔️ Measure at home
✔️ Check the reach
✔️ Plan ahead for guided climbing if needed

We want every climber to have a safe and unforgettable experience in Ashley Gorge.

The information below is from the Bureau of Reclamation:

Colorado pikeminnow (CPM) experimental base flows have ended and releases are transitioning to autumn baseflows.

Beginning on September 30, 2025, Flaming Gorge daily average releases shall follow the schedule below. Hourly releases from Flaming Gorge Dam will be scheduled through the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA). Hourly release schedules issued by WAPA for power production may include daily fluctuations to meet power demand contracts.

The daily average release will be cut to 800 cfs and will continue thereafter or until a new notification is issued.

This data is considered the most likely scenario given the current forecast and is subject to changing conditions. Forecasted (tentative) hourly release schedules can be found by visiting the Colorado River Basin Forecast Center at this website:

https://www.cbrfc.noaa.gov/dbdata/station/flowgraph/flowgraph_hc.html?id=GRZU1&ptype=3&linear_flow=0

Please note that the CBRFC data is in Zulu time, which is 6 hours later than MDT. For example, 6 pm Zulu (Z) is 12 pm MDT.
