🏆 THE BADGES BROUGHT HOME THE HARDWARE! 🏆

Back on February 24, the Vernon Police Department took on the Vernon Fire Department in the Boots & Badges Blood Drive Competition—and we’re proud to announce that the BADGES came out on top! 🚔🏆🚒

We were honored to receive the Boots & Badges plaque, which will now be proudly displayed at the Vernon Police Department. We might remind our friends over at the Fire Department about it from time to time… strictly for public safety purposes, of course. 😎

But while we’re proud to have the bragging rights, the real winners are the people whose lives are saved through blood donations. Every person who rolled up a sleeve made a difference. Blood cannot be manufactured—it has to come from generous donors in our communities, and a single donation can help save lives when someone needs it most.

Thank you to everyone who donated, supported the event, and helped make the competition a success. Whether you supported the Boots or the Badges, you were part of something much bigger than a trophy.

🩸 Give blood. Save lives. That’s a victory we can all be proud of.

And to the Vernon Fire Department… better start practicing for the rematch. The plaque looks pretty good over here. 😉🚔🏆

A huge THANK YOU to Atmos Energy for their generous $3,000 donation to support our officers!

This donation will be used to purchase winter coats for our officers, helping ensure they have the proper gear to stay warm and protected while serving our community during the cold winter months.

Support like this means a great deal to our department. We are grateful to Atmos Energy for investing in our officers and demonstrating their continued commitment to the communities they serve.

🚨 Training Today for a Safer Tomorrow 🚨

Members of our team are currently participating in the three-day ICS-300: Intermediate Incident Command System course through TEEX.

Our first responders are always working to improve their training, knowledge, and capabilities so we are prepared when our community needs us most. Emergencies can take many forms, and effective response requires strong leadership, coordination, communication, and teamwork among all responding agencies.

Training like ICS-300 helps ensure we are prepared to manage complex incidents, work effectively with our public safety partners, and coordinate the resources necessary to protect lives and property.

We train today so we are ready for whatever tomorrow brings. Our commitment is simple: continue improving, continue preparing, and continue working to make Vernon a safer community.

👮‍♂️ WELCOME TO THE VERNON POLICE DEPARTMENT! 👮‍♂️

The Vernon Police Department is proud to welcome Officer Andy Delgado to our team! Officer Delgado was officially sworn in on Monday, August 17.

Officer Delgado comes to VPD with prior experience as a Jailer with the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office and recently graduated from the Vernon College Police Academy. We are excited to have him begin the next chapter of his law enforcement career serving the citizens of Vernon.

Adding quality officers who are committed to serving our community is important to the continued growth and success of our department, and we are glad to have Officer Delgado on board.

If you see Officer Delgado out and about in the community, be sure to say hello and welcome him to Vernon and the VPD family!
