Burn season is still open but may be closing in the near future. The Vernonia Rural Fire Protection District is currently waiting for direction from the Columbia County Fire Defense Board regarding an official closure date.

As conditions continue to dry out, please use caution with any outdoor burning and stay alert for updates. Once a decision is made, we will share the official announcement with the community on our website, social media platforms, the reader board at Spencer Park, and the Vernonia's Voice.

TVF&R invites young women ages 16 to 22 to apply for this summer’s Tualatin Valley Fire Camp!

This free fire camp will take place June 26, 27, and 28 at TVF&R’s Training Center at 12400 SW Tonquin Road in Sherwood. Applications are being accepted now, and TVF&R will select as many as 25 participants. The deadline to apply for camp is May 18 at midnight. Space is limited. Applications and more information are available online at www.tvfr.com/firecamp.

Final Few Days to Apply! TVF&R invites young women ages 16 to 22 to apply for this summer’s Tualatin Valley Fire Camp. This camp is an all-encompassing introduction to a rewarding profession. The camp is designed to instill confidence while building leadership and team skills. Participants will learn what it takes to be a firefighter while completing hands-on training in hose and ladder skills, vehicle extrication, search and rescue, ropes and knots, live-fire operations, aerial ladder climbs, forcible entry, emergency medical skills, and other firefighting tasks. They will also receive instruction from professional female firefighters from multiple agencies on how to prepare for interviews and gain insight on what it’s like to have a career in the fire service as well as the importance of good nutrition and physical fitness.

During National EMS Week, Vernonia Rural Fire Protection District proudly recognizes the dedication, professionalism, and service of our Emergency Medical Services personnel.

Our EMS providers serve the community with compassion, integrity, and commitment, while delivering critical care and emergency response when it is needed most. Their work often takes place under challenging circumstances, yet they continue to answer the call with excellence and unwavering dedication to public safety.

Vernonia Rural Fire Protection District Now Hiring Seasonal Firefighters 🔥

The Vernonia Rural Fire Protection District is seeking motivated and dependable individuals to join our team as Seasonal Firefighters during the upcoming wildland fire season.

These positions are grant funded by OSFM and provide an opportunity to serve the community, gain valuable emergency response experience, and work alongside dedicated fire service professionals protecting lives, property, and natural resources throughout the region.

The district plans to begin the extra staffing July 1st, and carry forward until or around September 30th.

Pay: $22.00/ hour

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· NFPA Driver
· NFPA Pumper (or open task book) EMR or higher
· NFPA Firefighter 1 (or open task book)
· Wildland Firefighter Type 2

Application, Resume & Copies of Certifications must be submitted no later than June 15th.

Interviews will be held on June 22nd.
