Indian River County Fire Rescue regretfully announces the off-duty passing of Firefighter/Paramedic Geoffrey Lang.

During this difficult time, please keep Firefighter Lang’s family, fellow firefighters, friends, and all who knew and loved him in your thoughts.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to the neighboring agencies that have already expressed their condolences and support as we mourn the loss of Firefighter Lang.

Indian River County has lifted the countywide burn ban, effective immediately, following recent rainfall and improved conditions.

The ban, originally issued on February 7, is no longer necessary as the risk of wildfires has been significantly reduced across the county.

Residents are still encouraged to use caution when conducting outdoor burning.
