Make a splash and help make history on Thursday, June 25th! Indian River County is joining communities around the world for the World's Largest Swimming Lesson, and we're inviting local youth ages 3–10 to be part of this exciting global event. Participants can enjoy a FREE swim lesson led by experienced instructors while learning valuable water safety skills and helping set a new world record.

Back-to-School Fun Starts with a Splash!

Join us for the 2nd Annual Back to School Splash on Saturday, July 18th, from 10 AM – 2 PM at Gifford Aquatic Center. This exciting community event is proudly sponsored by the Treasure Coast Girls Coalition in partnership with Indian River County Parks, Recreation & Conservation.

The first 150 guests receive free admission, and families can enjoy free school supplies, free lunch, giveaways, community resources, and a variety of family-friendly activities throughout the day.

Bring your swimsuit and towel and celebrate the upcoming school year with an afternoon of fun, connection, and support for local students. We look forward to seeing you there!

Make a splash this summer with our Junior Lifeguard Program!

This two-week, hands-on program is perfect for ages 12–14 looking to build confidence in the water while learning real lifesaving skills like rescues, CPR/First Aid, and personal safety. Participants will enjoy interactive training, earn a Jr. Lifeguard t-shirt, whistle, and lanyard—and even wrap up with a fun Beach Day!

Two sessions available at North County & Gifford Aquatic Centers
Mon–Thurs | 9:00 AM–2:00 PM
$150 per session
Space is limited to just 10 participants per session!
Prerequisite skills are required.

Participants must demonstrate the following before entering Junior Lifeguarding: Swim 25 yards of front crawl continuously (breathing to the front or side). Swim 25 yards of breaststroke using proper pull, breathe, kick, and glide sequence.

Complete the Water Competency Sequence without stopping:
Step into the water and fully submerge.
Tread water or float for 1 minute.
Rotate one full turn and face the exit.
Swim 25 yards on front or back.

Exit the pool without using a ladder or steps.

What a day at the Gifford Aquatic Center! Graves Thomas Injury Law Group brought the energy for Family Fun Day, and judging by the smiles, the community had an incredible time.

From free lunch, games, and giveaways to life jacket fittings and water safety workshops led by our lifeguards, there was something for everyone to enjoy. The water cannon was a crowd favorite and added even more excitement to an already action-packed event.

These are the kinds of meaningful partnerships and community events we take pride in supporting—bringing people together, creating lasting memories, and showcasing the outstanding amenities available right here in Indian River County.
