In Observance Of Independence Day, Our Offices Will Be Closed Friday, July 3, 2026.

On July 4, 2026, our nation celebrates its 250th birthday, since our founders declared independence and proclaimed that all men are created equal with God-given rights.
Here in Indian River County, we have special reason to celebrate. From the shores of our beautiful Indian River Lagoon to the communities of Vero Beach, Sebastian, Fellsmere, and beyond, our families, businesses, farmers, fishermen, educators, and veterans continue to live out the American spirit every day. We enjoy the freedom and opportunity that generations before us defended and preserved.

This July 4th let’s reflect on our founding principles — life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Let us honor our past by teaching our children the true story of America and strengthen the bonds of faith, family, and community that make our county strong.

Thank you for making Indian River County a shining example of what is possible in the greatest nation on earth. Wave the flag high, celebrate with pride, and stand ready to pass this legacy of liberty to the next generation.

It is with profound sadness that the Indian River County Property Appraiser’s Office announces the passing of former Congressman William “Bill” Posey.
On May 9, 2026, our community lost a dedicated public servant, a steadfast advocate for Florida’s Space Coast and Treasure Coast, and a man of principle whose life was defined by integrity, service, and love for his home. Congressman Posey, who represented Florida’s 8th Congressional District—including all of Indian River County—from 2009 to 2025, departed this life at the age of 78.

For decades, Bill Posey stood as a tireless champion for the values and interests of our residents. From his early days in local government and business to his distinguished tenure in the Florida Legislature and the United States Congress, he worked with unwavering resolve to protect our natural treasures, strengthen our economy, support our space and defense industries, and preserve the American ideals that make this region so special. He embodied the spirit of public service at its finest. Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, colleagues, and all who were touched by his life. May his memory inspire future generations to serve with the same honor and dedication he displayed throughout his distinguished career. Rest in peace, Congressman Posey. Your service to Indian River County and the nation will not be forgotten.
