Badger Prairie Needs Network

Badger Prairie Needs Network BPNN is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting poverty & hunger. We are a 100% volunteer organization.

BPNN is a private, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting poverty and ending hunger in the communities we serve. We envision a strong, healthy community where access to nutritional food is readily available and where hunger, at its worst, is a temporary state and not a way of life. Our activities are guided by a Board of Directors, executive director, and over 1100 dedicated volunteers. Join our team at http://www.bpnn.org/volunteer.html

A huge thank you to Fitchburg's Healthy Neighbors Initiative for their generous grant of $15,000 to support our Farm to Pantry program! 🎉

This investment helps us connect our guests with fresh, locally sourced produce through partnerships with local farmers. Not only are we bringing healthy, high-quality fruits and vegetables directly to the families we serve—we are supporting our local agricultural community. 🍎❤️

Our birthday bags are a treasured service we offer our guests. It also takes a lot of coordination (many thanks to Cathy Cram, our birthday bag coordinator!) and the support of countless groups and organizations that purchase supplies and assemble kits.

We want to thank for stepping up to provide bags this month!

Over 40 years, BPNN has grown and evolved in so many ways. 💚🧡💙

One major change was the introduction of our Kitchen-to-Table initiative, which takes surplus prepared food into meals for families in need. In 2018, we added 1,600 sq. ft. to our building, making room for a new cooler, freezer, and storage area to bring Kitchen-to-Table to life.

Today – and 350 tons of recovered food later -- zero food waste is no longer just an idea -- it’s our reality. ♻️🍽

Enjoy a few flashback photos of K2T repackaging volunteers -- you may recognize many who have volunteered since the start of the program!

✨Meet Victoria, one of our amazing Crew Captains at BPNN! ✨

Victoria says she loves volunteering because it’s “uplifting for the soul” — and we’re so grateful she shares her time with us. Over the years, she has volunteered for just about every type of shift we offer, from kitchen repackaging to produce assistant. Her love for serving in the pantry quickly made her a natural fit to become a Crew Captain.

Victoria is also one of the many retirees who have found meaningful ways to stay connected and give back through volunteering at BPNN.

When she’s not at the pantry, Victoria treasures time with her six grandchildren, whose ages range from 5 years old to college-age.

Thank you, Victoria, for helping make BPNN such a welcoming and caring community! 💙💚🧡

Hats off to two of our wonderful bilingual volunteers, Leanne and Mario! 👏 They recently represented BPNN at the Verona Area High School's Bilingual Community Resource Fair.

The fair showcased students in the high school’s Two-Way Immersion program and connected them with service opportunities within the Spanish-speaking community. It was also a valuable opportunity for Spanish-speaking families in the school district to learn about community resources offered by organizations like BPNN. 💙

We are grateful to volunteers like Leanne and Mario who help make our community more welcoming, connected, and accessible for everyone!

The leadership team from Festival Foods in Verona recently took time out of their busy day to tour BPNN and learn more about how we serve the community. As one of our valued retail recovery partners — and our next door neighbors — we are grateful for the strong partnership we share.

From supporting the community through their Food for Neighbors program to hosting food drives in their store, Festival Foods continually shows their commitment to helping local families have enough to eat. 💚

We are thankful to have such caring community partners right next door!
