The mission of Sugar Creek is to provide a safe, supportive environment where all are encouraged to experience the joy of learning and are challenged to do their best. The school has maintained a long-standing tradition of providing a stimulating, caring environment in which children are offered opportunities fostering intellectual,
social, aesthetic, physical, and emotional growth. Each year, th

e school has reaffirmed the primary importance of low class size with an average of just 15 to 1 for Grades K-3, and 22 to 1 for Grades 4-5. The Verona Area School District (VASD) is working with all district schools to ensure that:
•Every student has a personalized learning plan that provides a path to discovery and achievement and that plan is reviewed and changed at least annually based on the student’s needs
•Every student’s parent, guardian or advocate participates directly in the design, implementation, and outcomes of that student’s personalized learning plans
•Every student meets or exceeds the goals of his or her personalized learning plan every school year
•Every Verona Area High School student graduates
•Every graduate achieves their choice of college and career path

Sugar Creek Elementary is very happy to announce our new Principal effective July 1, 2026, Ms. Kirstin Houghan!!

Ms. Houghan brings 13 years of experience in education to the Sugar Creek Principal role. She has served as an associate principal, a curriculum and learning specialist, and an elementary school classroom teacher at Sugar Creek.

Congratulations Ms. Houghan!

Family SnowBall Dance

The Sugar Creek PTO cordially invites all Sugar Creek students, parents, and siblings to the 3rd annual Family Snow Ball dance! Please join us on Friday, January 23, 2026 from 5:30-7:30pm for a Hot Cocoa Bar, popcorn, and lots of dancing! So get your dancing shoes on and the perfect outfit for you for an evening of fun!

Please note: at the request of the PTO this is an all family friendly fun event and any parent bringing children to the Family Snow Ball Dance should remain at the dance.
