Core Knowledge Charter Core Knowledge Charter School is a K-8 public school serving nearly 400 students in the elementary and middle school.

The Verona Area School District (VASD) is working with all district schools to ensure that:
•Every student has a personalized learning plan that provides a path to discovery and achievement and that plan is reviewed and changed at least annually based on the student’s needs
•Every student’s parent, guardian or advocate participates directly in the design, implementation,
and outcomes of that stu

•Every Verona Area High School student graduates

Happy Retirement to Ms. Julie Bie!

Ms. Bie has dedicated 28 years to the Verona Area School District at Core Knowledge Charter School (CKCS) teaching 2nd and 3rd grade students with patience, kindness, and care. She has been a helpful and supportive teacher to students and families throughout her years in education. Families have had nothing but positive things to say about Ms. Bie over the years. Ms. Bie will officially retire at the end of this school year.

Julie is also an amazing coworker who checks in on others, no matter what obstacles she may have faced. Her smile, positive attitude, and outlook on life have helped brighten the days of CKCS staff. She will truly be missed around our school building.

We hope she enjoys this special time with her family, along with many relaxing and joyful days ahead.

We are proud of our CKCS students in grades 3-8 who recently took our spring STAR assessments in reading and math. These assessments help us monitor student learning and know where to provide additional support for student growth. We reviewed the data and wanted to acknowledge students who grew from their fall to their spring assessments by at least 20 points or more! Students received a "Way to Grow!" certificate and a marigold for their hard work, perseverance, and dedication to their learning! Awesome job everyone!

Earlier this month, CKCS Welcomed VASD alumni Ryan Haack () to our school to share his message of inclusivity and belonging with all of our students in grades K-8!

This past Friday we extended his assembly message by bringing our K-8 student body together for an hour of celebrating our differences and connecting as a school community. 5th-8th grade students paired with our younger classrooms to read Ryan's book (Different is Awesome), work on a collaborative art project, and play at recess.

Thank you to Ryan Haack, our staff, and our wonderful students for helping to make CKCS a great place to learn for all students!
