National Police Week | May 11–17, 2026 🖤💙🖤

During National Police Week 2026, the Versailles Police Department proudly honors the courage, sacrifice, dedication, and selfless service of law enforcement officers across our nation.

Every day, officers answer the call to protect and serve their communities, often placing the safety of others above their own. Behind every badge is a commitment to stand in the gap during moments of crisis, uncertainty, and danger. We remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty and extend our deepest gratitude to the officers who continue to serve with integrity, strength, and compassion.

This week, we ask our community to join us in honoring the men and women in law enforcement who dedicate their lives to protecting others. Thank you to all officers nationwide for your unwavering commitment and service.

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me.’” -Isaiah 6:8

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” -Matthew 5:9

⚖️ On Tuesday, April 23, 2026, Governor Kehoe signed Missouri House Bill 2641 (HB2641), also known as the Intoxicating Cannabinoid Control Act, into law.

This legislation establishes strict regulations on h**p-derived products, effectively banning the sale of intoxicating h**p products outside of state-licensed ma*****na dispensaries.

House Bill 2641, also called the Intoxicating Cannabinoid Control Act, will prevent intoxicating THC infused products from being marketed and sold to children.

Intoxicating THC products, packaged like candy, cookies, cereal and other treats have been sold in our gas stations and convenience stores. Some of our members have reported overdoses among juveniles due to the availability of these products.

The Missouri Police Chiefs Association has been working to help remedy this situation for the last three years, and wants to thank our State Government: Governor Mike Kehoe, Senator David Gregory, Representative Dave Hinman, Attorney General Catherine Hanaway and the many others who supported this endeavor to help us better protect our young people, and keep our communities safe.

It is with heavy hearts that we make this post today. The Christian County community has suffered heartbreaking loss after two of their deputies (Deputy Gabriel Ramirez and Deputy Michael Hislope) have been shot and killed over the last 12 hours.

These brave men answered the call to serve and protect others, and they gave their lives in that service. There are no words that can truly capture the depth of this tragedy.

The Versailles Police Department grieves alongside their families and friends. We lift everyone effected up in prayer, asking for comfort, peace, and strength in the days ahead. We also extend those prayers to the two surviving deputies that were wounded before subduing the suspect. We pray for our brothers and sisters at the Christian County Sheriff's Office, who are mourning the loss of their law enforcement family now and forever. Lord, please be with them in this time of tragedy.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. -Psalm 34:18

Please slow down and pay attention while MoDOT works on the culverts in this area. Also, let it be known that this was not a decision of the Versailles Police Department. Any complaints regarding the construction need to be directed to MoDOT.

MoDOT has informed the district that tomorrow, Thursday, January 29, 2026, crews will begin work to install a larger culvert to address ongoing flooding issues near Westview Drive.

Westview Drive, near B-W Graphics, will close at approximately 8:30 a.m. According to MoDOT, the closure is expected to last up to two weeks. Please note that MoDOT has said that all work is weather-dependent and subject to change.

During this time, Morgan County R-II School buses will enter and exit campus using the back entrance near the baseball/softball field. Buses will then utilize the portion of Westview Drive that goes by Outdoor Addiction and its parking lot leading to W. Newton Street to get to and from the school district. All other traffic is asked to please use the front entrances near Versailles Elementary and McDonald’s during morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal/pickup.

Our School Resource Officers (SROs) will be on site to assist with traffic flow. Please anticipate possible delays when entering and exiting campus or driving in or near these areas.

Faculty, staff, families who drive students to school or pick up students, and student drivers are encouraged to allow extra time—especially in the morning—to ensure timely arrival. Students may be counted tardy if they are late to school.

If you have any specific questions regarding attendance please contact your student's school office. If you have questions regarding school district Transportation, please call the Transportation Office at (573) 569-7015.

Thank you in advance for your patience and support during this construction period.
