What a Fantastic First Week at VMS

Our Tigers have been busy learning their class schedules, getting familiar with routines and procedures, meeting new friends, trying new things, and settling into the school year. We couldn't be more proud of how our students have started the year!

“This Year I Hope To…”
As students arrived at school this week, we invited them to add to our “This Year I Hope To…” poster. Students shared goals, dreams, and things they hope to accomplish this school year.

We loved reading their responses and seeing what our Tigers are looking forward to! Check out the attached picture to see some of their goals. We can't wait to watch them work toward and accomplish them throughout the year!

Let the Games Begin!
Our VMS sports practices are officially up and running, and competitions will be starting soon! We are excited to see our Tigers represent VMS and demonstrate teamwork, effort, and Tiger Pride.

If your student would like a schedule of upcoming games and competitions, athletic schedules are posted on the wall outside the office.

It's been a GOLDEN start to the year, and we are excited for all that's ahead!

We did go over a few rules for attending games. Students are to be seated in the student section, no unnecessary items are brought to the game, once you leave the event you may not return. This goes for all home game VMS and VHS. The students were excited to support their classmates.

RTI THIS WEEK …
RTI this week has been filled with practice and games for learning VMS handbook information, routines and procedures. Today students worked on composing and sending an email using proper email etiquette. Regular RTI rotations will begin next week. The Reading Interventionists will begin working with students next week.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL = A SUCCESS!

What a FANTASTIC first day at Versailles Middle School! We saw so many happy faces this morning…along with a few sleepy ones! But whether students walked through the doors excited, nervous, tired, or somewhere in between, they showed up and were ready to make Day 1 a great one!

We are so proud of the way our Tigers jumped into the new school year and began learning, connecting, and getting back into the VMS routine. Day 1 is officially in the books!

QUICK REMINDER ABOUT SCHOOL SUPPLIES:
Please remember that students do not need bags or trapper keepers/binders, zippered three-ring binders at VMS. We want students to keep things simple and bring only what they need. Be sure to check the VMS school supply list for the complete list of recommended supplies. Students may bring a backpack to class, but it must stay in their locker. Students may take a gym bag to class.

ALL IN. ALL GOLD.

This year, we are challenging our Tigers to be ALL IN—all in on their effort, their learning, their relationships, and their choices.

Being ALL GOLD isn't about being perfect. It's about showing character, perseverance, respect, and pride in everything we do.

Today was just the beginning, and we can't wait to see what this group of Tigers accomplishes this year!

LUNCH REMINDERS:

Our students did a fantastic job at lunch today! We are off to a great start!

Students may bring lunch from home or purchase a school lunch. Each day, students will have two school lunch options to choose from. Today’s choices were nachos or hot dogs, served with cucumbers and a giant peach!

A few helpful reminders about lunch:

Students may purchase extra milk, which will be charged to their lunch account.
We have three microwaves available for students to use during lunchtime.
Soda and other canned/bottled drinks brought from home may not exceed 20 ounces.
Energy drinks are not permitted at VMS.

Thank you to our students for making the first day of lunch a success! We are proud of the way our Tigers are learning our routines and expectations.

CHROMEBOOK REMINDERS
A quick reminder for families: Chromebook insurance must be purchased and paid for before a student can be issued a Chromebook.

Students will not receive a device until the insurance payment has been completed.

If you have questions or need assistance with purchasing Chromebook insurance, please contact the VMS office. We are happy to help!

Starting next week, we will be starting our Low Tech/No Tech Tuesdays when and where we can on Tuesdays. This gives students an opportunity to practice more communication skills and writing opportunities.

Thank you for helping us make sure our Tigers have the technology they need to be successful!

Welcome back, VMS! Let's make it a GOLDEN year!
